If you like period romances, I'd recommend anything by Jane Austen, of course, as well as Gone With The Wind (if the slavery subject doesn't turn you off), Jane Eyre, or another of my favorites Push Not the River by James Conroyd Martin. Great book about a late 18th/early 19th century Polish countess.

I would recommend Wives and Daughters to you. The book itself is not complete as the author died before completing it, but it is rich in characters, society and romance.

If you like dramatic type books, check out Outlander by Diana Gabaldon as well as The Thornbirds by Colleen McCullough. Also, I know (G)emma may come in and push the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray, it's set in 1895, and is such a wonderful series.

Name's Alyssa, I'm seventeen. :)
Currently reading 'I Know This Much Is True' by Wally Lamb. I'm hooked! I usually tend to hang all over dramas.
I'd like to read something inspirational next.
I also love murder nonfiction, like biographies.
Romantics (est. 1800s) are huge in my book.
What's some great books you all are reading lately?
Thanks !!! :) !!
