Kristina | 588 comments Anyone read the next books yet? I finished Story of the Stone and while it was another fun adventure, it didn't have the same spark as Bridge of Birds. I don't know if it was because I was looking for the clues this time (I didn't figure out the Jade Pearl thing till the last minute, I was having so much fun just enjoying the ride) or what. I haven't gotten around to starting the last book yet.

Cliff | 69 comments I read the complete trilogy many years ago and I remember thinking that the other two books simply weren't as clever or epic as Bridge of Birds.

Kim | 477 comments I purchased the trilogy on Kindle but I've heard a few comments like Cliff's which make me want to hold off on reading them.

Amanda | 21 comments I'm interested in reading the next 2 books, but not right away. Sometimes I get worn out on a series if I read the books back to back.

Mapleson | 94 comments I tried starting the second book half a dozen times, but couldn't get into it. I've given up for now, but I'll circle back at some later point.

Geir (makmende) Yeah, I finished Story of the Stone directly afterwards, and it was enjoyable enough, although certainly not as enjoyable as the first. Well worth picking up if you liked the first, but don't expect quite as much from it. I'm taking a break from the series now, but definitely going to come back to read Eight Skilled Gentlemen at some point.

Bill Cooper | 9 comments I agree with Amanda. I almost never read books in the same series back to back, because I don't want to get tired of the book, unless it's extremely good and I couldn't live without reading the next one. I normally like to switch it up, maybe read another few books and then head back to it. This being said, I don't know if I really want to read the others for a while, because although I liked Bridge of Birds, I'm perfectly fine with it being a "stand alone book" at least in my mind, so I'm agreeing with Alex on this one.

Erin (nerdmommie) | 15 comments I'm only a little bit into the third book, (the copy at the library was all three together). I really enjoyed Bridge of Birds, but Story of the Stone really dragged for me and it just wasn't as riveting as the first book. It took me considerably longer to finish Story of the Stone then it did for Bridge of Birds.

I will finish the third book, because I'm compulsive and even if I'm not really enjoying it, I simply can't leave something like that unfinished. But I'm not really feeling the same way about the last two books as I did the first.

To be honest I wish that I could have rented just Bridge of Birds from the library, but that wasn't an option.
