No they sure couldn't!! Well, Lena may have, but even so it was still odd that they changed that.

I think there is going to be a little bit of trouble while writing the second screenplay because of some of the changes they made.

How so? I actually thought it was great!

i liked it till the end 20 mins , then it ruined everything. They gave away some of the plot of the second book......
i am so anoggyed the dog wasnt init , Etahsn 3 grreat aunts werent in it and the fact they didnt speak in their heads :(

It was a large mish mash of crap that wasn't even explained to the viewer. So if you hadn't read the book before you'd be at a total loss for what happens. So many things were screwed up and so many things were missing. And I'm not talking about small things, they were BIG THINGS VITAL TO THE PLOT.
They're not going to make a sequel. Not from this movie. Not with that ending. And I honest to God hope they don't. Let the books lie in peace, where they cannot be disgraced again.

I agree with you guys. It was so slow!
First Ethan looks too old!!!!
Link, the funniest charater if you ask me, is almost non existent..
no dog, no aunts, no librarian...
a shame..

I see why the aunts weren't in it too. But that's doesn't mean it is okay

I like to think outside of the box and judge the movie by itself. I admitted, I am disappointed, but I love the movie all together because I can feel the love that Ethan and Lena have for each other. How Lena are struggling to choose her fate. If you look deeper, you just have to fall in love with them because in someway, they are like us. That why I love it more and Beautiful Creatures will NEVER be like Twilight. Plus, in Twilight, Bella is stupid and do whatever Edward told her to do. In Beautiful Creatures, Lena is independent and fights only for herself. She shows the power of women, that we can change our fate. So even if the movie misses a lot of scene, the plot is still the same. The character want the same thing, so somewhat in the end, the movie DOES go well with the book. It just, that they better put a ton of more detail in the second movie so that it makes sense though out the 4 book. But I guess, for other who have never read it, would find that the detail doesn’t count and would make sense all the way. And I am proud to say, “I rest my cases…I can’t wait for the next one!”

They only been in a box office for a few days, so I don't think you can't judged that yet.
Guy=both men and women. Like I said, I am hoping that they would make it up in the second movie. Wait, Who is she? Do you mean Richard? And again... it is also hard to put major detailed on the first time movie that is only 2 hour. I might get off topic, but the only reason why Peter Jackson (who make the Hobbit) was able to make a 3 hours movie and make it well was because he have experience with all the book. Soooo..just give Richard sometime and chances. And every director are different and have their own talent.

Not to go back and forth about it, but it currently hold a 45% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (not good). And typically, movie studios look a domestic ticket sales when determining if they will green-light a sequel.
Differences with the book aside, I just thought it was a poorly executed film. However, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully, fans who enjoyed the film will get a sequel (I wouldn't hold my breath), and fans who didn't enjoy it don't have to partake.

Thank you Dear.

Agreed! People who love the movie will wait for the second. People who don't, just stay home for the second one, and if you did watch it anyway..that will make me wonder. lol. JK. :D

I don't think they were saying litterally guys, I think they meant all the people in general...

That what I concluded to him above Dear. :D LOL

the same here I was so disapointed i know they can't put everithing in a 2 hour film, but was it necessery to mix everithing so much and Amma- wtf did they ?!?!?!?! about the actors i think they done great job but I imagine Lena and Ethan little different in look i mean
but yes they do have chemistry. I dont want to be hating around I guess i'll start like it after few days - maybe :DD I'll think about the move like another story I have read the coments and i agree it's hard to write a script but if you want to do your job the best i guess they just should'ev done it in 3 hours or just not get so far away from the books
sorry about the mistakes i'm not so good at english ;]]

So . . . my point is that it is disappointment in terms of audience reception AND at the box office. There is little incentive for the movie studio to get behind a sequel. Poor reception AND poor box office performance gives no reason to believe that ticket sales will increase. This movie is a total flop.

No. They made sequels to Twilight because the first one made money. $$$

I knew they were going to cut Marian, and combind her with Amma they have nothing in common (more or less.)
How could they If, she the Best how will they make a second movie how will they do it? Liv her keeper in training and help her take care of the library if they are making another I don't think Liv will be hard.
I also I heard they kind of Cut Geniveve from Lena's Family (ouch! do they even have Great great great uncle Ethan.) Or they didn't have the Sixteen moon song ( Well they kind of just killed the whole book and the series, what else are they going to cut? The Greats, did they even have his Aunts? and John Breed, then you just don't have the Series. )
Okay I should stop before I declare war on the Movie actors and the Directors. That goes to show thats Hollywood. ( you either watch it or Read the books)

My best friend and I had been freaking out for weeks waiting for the movie to come out. Then we finally see it and we were totally disappointed. I haven't even read Darkness, Chaos, and Redemption; I had to have eveything explained to me. I am a smart person but at the end of the movie I was out of my mind! The movie was good but not for someone who has read the books. WARNING! If you love the book at all, read the entire series before seeing the movie.

First can we STOP comparing every teen/supernatural movie to Twilight! Whether you liked Twilight or not I keep hearing this comparison and it drives me crazy! I know with this movie they may be trying to aim for the same audience but these stories are completely different. I may be the only one who feels that way but it's all I hear or read in reviews like they can't rate the movie on its own, it must be compared! That's just my personal view which brings me to my second issue...EVERYONE is entitled to there own opinion so let's not tell poeple they are closed minded for not liking something because they had different expectations. Have you read any of the other books Angela? Because if you had (especially book 3) you would know that they completely changed the PLOT by changing the curse and not letting Ethan die then swapped for Macon. The third book can't happen! So the next movies (if they make them) will have to pretty much makeup for the first or be so different from the actual story they shouldn't have the same titles. When you decide to make an adaptation of a book that has a large fan base because they like the story they want to see the book on screen. Adaptations do well when they stick close to the original story. Dare I say it...Twilight did well (even though it wasn't received well critically) because they mostly stuck to the book, hunger games another movie that did well because they stuck close to the story, Harry potter!. I'm not saying there weren't changes or things left out, there always are but can the deal with these things being left out? Is the overall movie good enough to make up for those things that the book fans want to see? Another problem with doing an adaptation is that a lot of people can't separate their feelings on the movie just based on what they see, how the move stands alone, they have to compare it to the book. I thought there were some great moments in the movie that weren't in the book., cast and chemistry were great but I think they missed out on a big opportunity to make this a franchise because they left the readers out in the cold.
One thing I loved about the book was that although the story was centered around Lena and Ethan, the story throughout all 4 books wasn't just about the two of them. It was so much bigger then the the two of them. I did of course love Lena and Ethan's relationship too. I thought the movie did a great job In respect to that. I know some people don't think the changes in the move are a big deal but I just can't agree.

Very well put Leslie! I agree with you completely :)

But really, if I had not read the book, I would have only enjoyed the movie a little less because of the insta love.
I really enjoyed this movie, and if I think of it as something loosely based on Beautiful Creatures, I can enjoy it.

One thing I was really mad at is in the books Lena does the spell to bring Ethan back, also in the flashback Genevieve doesn't bring Ethan back and then kill him!! She goes dark, because she had to sacrifice something!
They left out A lot of major parts, I could've overlooked little things, but they didn't include the Sixteen Moons song. They totally could've put it in at the beginning when he's lying down after his run, and he would go "huh what's this song". It would've made all the difference, considering if they do make another movie (which they probably won't) EACH BOOK HAS A SONG!! 16th moon, 17th moon, etc.!
Everyone thought Twilight was AMAZING when it came out, but if you watch it now it looks corny and all the special effects are hilarious, plus EVERYONE is extremely pale! I feel like everyone's comparing it to Twilight because we want that feeling of going crazy till the next movie, being invested in the characters and plot. The Beautiful Creatures BOOK did that for me, BUT THE MOVIE didn't.

Yes I read the whole series. But I just didn't like the acting of Twilight. Beautiful Creatures movie felt real to me and that why I love it. Even tho the movie is different, movie maker will always find ways to make it work. And even if they don't, they will tried their best to make the movie good. Just judge the movie by itself, not comparing it with book. Because I find it very impossible for every movie to be alike as the book. You people should know by then.
atleast this movie was more accurate then the percy jackson movie. when you compare it with that you cant complain.

There were things that were missed but then I had to remember that this movie was made for mass market and not just for the readers of the book because truthfully I never even heard of the book until I saw the movie trailer.
My hubby who is the worse critic never read the book but he throughly enjoyed the movie and when I told him about the parts they took out he said that he was glad that they did.
While a lollipop sucking succubus in books sounds okay on screen it can look a little sexually suggestive and I think that's why they cut that part.
I think they wanted a movie that will appeal to everyone one and in my honest opinion I believe they achieved it.

There were things that were missed ..."

You're welcome. People have been harping and bad mouthing this movie since the first trailer showed up.

I read the book.
I said my hubby didn't read the book but I told him what was left out and he said it didn't matter to him.
Like I said some people take things too seriously. Its a movie and a good one and I read the book and saw the movie & I recently read the book so everything was still fresh in my mind. It wasn't like this was an autobiography of someones life they messed up.
It's a book and I loved the book and I loved the movie. Obviously the writers of the book didn't have a problem with the movie so who are we to judge.
