"Nope. You would know better than me."
"Um, yeah!" Sarah sighed. "V and Injust sound bad together!"
Sarah put her hand to her stomach. "V has butterflies in her stomach. I don't know how I know.."
Sarah frowned. "Well isn't that just dandy? At least she's got someone. Even if it does equal mass destruction."
Braden came in, haggard. Blood was dried on his face and a bit on his clothes; severed handcuffs dangled from his wrists. But when he saw Sarah, all that seemed to go away as he was overcome with relief. "Thank you," he breathed to whatever gods still existed.
Sarah walked over, careful. "What happened, Braden?"
Sarah went to grab some water, her face burning.
He gripped the sides of the chair. "Don't," he said tensely. He closed his eyes. "I saw your house, blown up. V had told me at the cliff that something happened to Emily. I went to look for her and later wound up finding V and Injust again."
"Injust said he'd captured Emily," he said. "I threw my knife. He head butted me. There were three of them and one of me..."
Sarah brought him water, then walked back over to the other side of the restaurant.
She was acknowledging either of them. She just sat in a chair, knees pulled to her chest.
She didn't look up, just stayed silent, staring at her knees.
He cupped his fingers under her chin, tilting her head back so he could look into her eyes. "I thought you were dead," he said quietly.
She bit her lip. She didn't know how to reply, so she just blinked.
Sarah put her face in her knees, silently crying.
She sighed, her skin tensing his hand.
She sighed, relaxing a bit. "Thanks," she whispered.
Sarah jumped up. "Shaid," she squeaked.
Sarah leaned on Braden, panic filling her.
She bit her lip, blinking. "I...headband? What's happening?"
((This is probably the first time he's heard her talk to the headband. and he can't hear the headband reply.))
((This is probably the first time he's heard her talk to the headband. and he can't hear the headband reply.))
"I don't know," he responded, ignoring the random word headband in there. He knelt beside Shaid, reluctantly, and took his pulse. "He's alive, at least." Of course. If not it would be too simple.
"The ancients? What the hell are the ancients? Is he going to be okay? What's going to happen?"
