June Williams (junewilliams) | 34 comments My new book is "Headstrong Girls" (ISBN13 = 9781301178377) which is now listed on Goodreads. My two co-authors have unique names, but alas, I am merely a common "June Williams" and cannot get the book to display on my author page. There are two other "June Williams" authors, which is a possible problem. Help, please!

Done. June, you are June^^Williams, where ^ is a space. :)

June Williams (junewilliams) | 34 comments THANK YOU!!!! Very clever, using two spaces.

Erm... I am sorry to bother you again, but now my name doesn't show up at all in the results if you search for "June Williams." I even did a search for my name with two spaces. I have become an invisible author?

That's not because you have spaces; it's because you are not the primary author on either of the books listed for you. It's an unfortunate limitation of our search, which does not play well with secondary authors.

June Williams (junewilliams) | 34 comments Oh. (tests....) Co-author Enid Wilson doesn't have any problem getting the book to show up under a search for her name, even though she's not the primary author. I'm not arguing with you, I'm just trying to understand how this works.

If I search for June Williams I get Headstrong Girls halfway down page 3 of the results.

June Williams (junewilliams) | 34 comments I'm using the "Search by Book Title, Author, or ISBN" feature - searching for June Williams as author. The results list shows only two authors named June Williams, and I am not one of them. I wouldn't mind being the last one listed, I'd just like to be on the list so I can be found. Thank you!

Nice! I guess the tweaking someone was doing on the search engine the other week helped.

Try leaving it set to "all" instead. The "author" search still only looks at primary authors (and that's probably not fixable without major overhaul of how our search works, rather than minor tweaks). An "author" search for Enid Wilson doesn't pull up the book either, but an "all" search does.

June Williams (junewilliams) | 34 comments Oh... so each time I publish a book as a co-author and not the primary author, I need to come to this board to ask someone to connect the book to my name?

Actually, regardless of whether you are the primary author or not, if the book is imported (or manually added without the extra space in your name), a librarian will have to change the author to be you (rather than the other June Williams).

June Williams (junewilliams) | 34 comments Okay, let's see if I get this right: the next time I manually add a new book for which I am a co-author, I should enter my name with TWO spaces between June and Williams. Then everything should be okay and the book will be linked to my author page? I don't want to be a pest by coming to this board to ask for a librarian; it seems to me that I should just do it right the first time.

Yes, exactly right.

June Williams (junewilliams) | 34 comments THANK YOU, Emy, Rivka, and Banjomike! This is my first time doing this, and I am very impressed by how I was able to get help so quickly. I was afraid this thread would languish the way "help" threads do on some PC user groups. I have written this down so that the next book, I should be able to get it right. Thanks again, Goodreads librarians!
