I'll probably be on vacation some time in August but as we're starting now in mid-July, I'll have time to catch up.
Question...does the pattern have to be EXACT? Or can its mirror image also be a winner?

Can't wait for this to start. I've deliberately not even looked at challenges for the last two months to give myself a break, so I'm ready for a team challenge.

If you don't see your name above, please let me know.
Cristina, I've added you to our standby list, thanks.
DG & AH, since you already know you'll be on holiday during the game, just let your team mates know so everyone's aware.
DG, that's a great question. We hadn't considered it, but I'll chat with the girlies and let everyone know what's decided.

I was thinking along the same lines. Lets say vampires shelf is called and my card has vampires shelf outside of the area needed for bingo. I could then skip reading that book, right?

That rule will still apply, plus the game is to promote reading, and we all want to find great new books.
As those who played the last round know, I did the stats on the books chosen by everyone, and I'll be doing the same this time around. Great idea Daffodil!

Cool. So just skip over any shelves called that won't possibly win but make sure you don't skip three in a row.

New and returning players welcome! We hope you will join us for BookShelf Bingo R12!
✣ Shelf announcements will be made on/around 1pm each Wednesday (PST Time) ✣
✚ NEW WINNING PATTERNS NEEDED FOR R12 ✚ (Modified 12 July)
These patterns have 4 more spaces necessary for a win, which will likely increase the length of the game. Please keep this in mind before signing up.
REMINDERS:
➸ Each player must check-in a minimum of once a week following the shelf announcement. Let your teammates know which book you will be reading. We are understanding of RL issues that may arise throughout the game keeping you from posting, however, this is a TEAM challenge. Your teammates depend on you to participate and communicate with them. Your teammates and I thank you in advance!
➸ There is no way to know in advance how long the game will last. Past rounds have lasted 2.5-4.5 months. The shelves are chosen using random.org, so there is always a chance the game could go on for a shorter or longer time period.
If you wish to play, sign up below. Sign-up sheet will close on Sunday, 12 July so that players may be shuffled to create teams prior to first shelf announcement.
Sandra, Judithe, and I are looking forward to joining everyone for another round of BSB! Thank you to all returning members who've participated in the previous rounds and welcome to all newbies!!

As many of you already know, Book Shelf Bingo is harder to explain than it is to play. If you are interested, but unsure how to play, please review these threads for more details:
How to: Simplified for the short & sweet version of how the game works; How to: Get Started, Get Playin' & Get Winnin' for detailed instructions on how to play the game; and our Q&A thread for answers to some frequently asked questions. You are also welcome to look through the past team threads (in our Archive: Past Team Challenges folder ) to get an idea of how the game flows.
