Man I'm glad to be back. I know some people don't like when an author recaps, but I'm glad to get some refresher.
Interesting that Winter is now a colonel with both Royals and the ladies under her. I like her plan to do whatever it takes to save as many as she can.
Looking forward to see where this is going.

I'm enjoy the part with Marcus and Racinia too. I like that he found an excuse for Racina to be more hands on again in this one.
And we find out what happened to the Thousand Names and Faeor. I guess she's got students. However, this doesn't seem much like Hogwarts...

I'm glad to see he addressed some of the obvious issues he created:
1) Intermixing Genders in the military
2) Fraternization between officers (Winter and Jane)
I don't know how #1 is handled is the US Military. I know there have been a bunch of issues. No idea if it's frequent issues, or what.
I know things are a lot more stressful under combat situations than say..working in an office, but are guys just that unable to keep their hands to themselves? Several of the things I recall hearing about had nothing to do with combat either.
It seems at least he has some mutual sex, and some guys who aren't asshats. That seems more realistic to me.
Meanwhile, I like the way Winter is handling Jane. I'll be sad if Jane is unable to comprehend the need for Winter to treat her and her women like she does the other captains and the royals. Obviously unit cohesion here is going to be difficult, especially when you have asshats like that Rapey Lt.
I do like that Jane's women easily handled the issue though.

I thought the recap wasn't too bad - it didn't give me too much info but it had some good reminders.I agree, Rob- I'm glad some of the potential issues were addressed because there ARE going to be issues. Now that I'll in theory have time to read, it'll be fun to see where this goes.
I'm not quite through this section yet - but I just finished Station 11 so now I should have time to catch up. Anyway....at the part I'm at, something really needs to be done about Jane. She is insubordinate and the inequity in chores, etc. that she fostered is bad. I really hope that she can see and understand things that Winter needs to do (and I hope Winter does them).I like the way Jane's women handled the men looking for sex too.
I'm not officially done with this section. The parts with Raes and Marcus were my favorites - I really like both of their characters. Jane, on the other hand, drives me crazy. She is so unreasonable. And although Winter has handled it, its just not enough in my opinion. In wartime, if someone is sleeping with the commanding officer, rejects said commanders authority while using it to get what she (or he) wants, and pretty blatently disobeys orders....well....gah - I hate Jane. The other women are pretty amazing though - so brave to charge and fight with so little training and experience.
