Thank you for your suggestion - but no. I think the title included at least one of the characters names and it wasn't as dark as midwinterblood.
A long shot because it takes place in different countries - Reincarnation by Suzanne Weyn?
Nicki, is this book for young or older adults?
Can you give examples of specific times in English history when they reunite?
Do they have any control over when they are reincarnated?

Something by Traci Harding perhaps? Maybe Chronicle of Ages (or something related to it, it's sort of in the middle of multiple series).
Yes!! Thank you Ayshe and everyone else. It is "Ferney" by James Long. A great read - if anyone is interested :)
I worked it out but not sure if I was meant to change the words in the topic or something.cheers

I read it about 5 years ago I think.
The main characters are male and female but they keep meeting as husband and wife, brother and sister etc throughout history - whatever form their soul takes.
As soon as one dies, they are born again and sometimes the other soul realises and has to wait until the new one grows up again to reconnect.
