Brandi (poohfanatik) | 117 comments Thanks for the info, Lola.

I think if properly measured mine would be 38 to 40 G. I understand the look down and see boobs thing.

Still getting use to my new normal here. It has been almost a year since he moved out. My son is settling pretty good but as most 4 year old boys, he is all about the mom. We just finished with T-ball. His first foray into sports. He loved it. I think he will be disappointed when he finally realizes that it is over. He is at his dad's for the weekend and will be back to my house on sunday. I then have him for the next week and a half.

in other news, I scored tickets to the traveling broadway production of Hamilton for me and my sister. Can't wait til next May to see this show!!!!

Lola, you crack me up. When I was in my 20's I was flat as the proverbial pancake. My GYN doc told me I didn't have to do breast self-exam, all I had to do was look in the mirror and if there was a lump I'd see it. (Smart-ass!). So in my early 30's I was so self-conscious I had saline implants and went from a AA to a C overnight. But you know what? I'd wanted to be a B-cup, not a C, because I didn't want big boobs, I just wanted SOME boobs. But the plastic surgeon decided--FOR me--while I was under anesthesia-- that if I got a B-cup I'd want more and need more surgery, so he over-filled the implants. And once I recovered, none of my clothes fit as well. I realized that clothing was made for those skinny models, plus I looked totally top heavy.

Bring on my 40's, I had a hysterectomy, went on hormone replacement and my boobs BALLOONED. No one other than my maternal grandmother had such boobs. Honestly, I hated them. Then one day, a few weeks after my mammogram, I felt something odd, and my boobs looked--odd. I went to a surgeon because I was convinced there was a lump, and he sent me for another mammogram and an ultrasound.

As it turns out, my right implant had collapsed. I laughed so hard - partly with relief, and partly because something like this could ONLY happen to me - then, I scheduled the implants to come out for good.

But after the surgery, my boobs continued to grow. And, of course, like a cat that's been fixed, I put on weight. So now I call them my crumb-catchers. I don't have any medical issues other than it gets clammy under there when it's hot, so a reduction isn't in my future. But I wish you the very best with yours!

LOL.
Paula

P.S. Ray and I went to the gardens in Victoria a couple of years ago. We have beautiful pictures and yet another funny vacation story, which I will share at another time.

Hi Lesley, I have another friend who lives up north near York and she said her summer has been hot and dry, too - after a long, cold, wet winter. Today it's going to be 105 here, and California has fires from north to south, one of which is not unlike the disasters that hit our county and Sonoma County last October. We are all on edge with the heat and the wind, and praying for the safety of those in the path of the firestorm. The area we visited in Yosemite last May is now closed while they try to keep the fire out of the tourist area - and the tourists have all been evacuated. Honestly, I want to go back to Virginia where it rains year-round. But they're having flooding. I wonder if and when the weather will ever feel normal again and hope that everyone here is out of harm's way.

I'm writing today so I'll post a quick picture or two of the flowers from the Conservatory and get back to work!

Lola | 1001 comments Hi Melinda,
My garden is going into harvest , I am picking green beans everyday, I grow Fortex pole green beans , they are a French bean . They grow very fast and produce huge long beans and taste great. You can also let them go to seed and use as dried beans but I can never let them go that long.
I can't wait ,I go see the surgeon in less than 2 weeks , I am so ready ! Wolf went in for his last follow up exam after is cataract surgery , everything is fine . I go to the same Dr. next month for my yearly exam, I have cataracts too but last year the Dr. said he wanted to wait to do the surgery, so I will see if it can wait another year.
We have been getting a lot of smoke ,there is a big fire up in Glacier Park , which is about is about 200 miles from here, and I am sure part of it is from Cal.

How are you doing ? Ready for classes or have they already started? The local schools here don't start until after Labor Day.

Brandi (poohfanatik) | 117 comments Summer has been an up and down rollercoaster. I get my son back tomorrow after he has been at his dad's for 1.5 weeks. He is ready for mom's house too. Nothing on the dating front as i just dont seem to be interested right now but also would love to just have someone hold me.

Hope things are well with everyone else!!

Glad that your garden is doing well. Hope the smoke from the fires et better. It will be awhile before all of the fires are uncontrol from what I have read. Glad to hear that Wolf is doing fine from his cataract surgery. CLASSES STARTED August 13 for the college . The K-12 went back the week before. Makes no sense to me to be in the South and go back to school in the hottest part of the summer. takes a little while to get back into the routine. I am teaching one class , Orientation. I usually teach it in 8 weeks but this class is 16 weeks which is the normal semester . I only have to go twice a week which is better for my eyes. Let us know what the surgeon says.

Lola | 1001 comments Hi Melinda,
That is crazy starting school so early, seems like kids don't have enough time just to be kids ,I bet the parents don't gripe too much lol ! It is funny here the schools start times are set by farming , school is out in time for the kids to help with planting and starts after most of the harvest is done, they have always done that here. Goes back to the Pioneer Days when you used your kids as cheap labor lol.

Any news about your eyes? I will let you all know what the Surgeon says. I bet no one wants to see the before and after photos . ;>D Love Lola

The heat has cooled down considerably at the moment, but it's still lovely & warm. We've also had some much needed rain as well. I am so far behind I need time to read these posts and reply appropriately. We were under an evacuation warning for 11 days, but we’re fortunate that despite fires to our both, south, and east, we remained in the one area that was too close for comfort but well managed by the thousands of fire fighters that converged into Ukiah to fight them.

The smoke was horrible for several days but this week is a little cooler and a little more humid and that has helped. I pray for a cleansing rain despite the fact that rain never starts here before late September or mid-October. I’ve escaped to the coast one day and to Napa one weekend just to breathe fresh air. So many others are worse off — dangerous smoke, lost homes and belongings, and a few lost lives — so I have to say we are blessed and very grateful that the fires stayed away far enough to be contained.

I won’t unpack our emergency bags until October at least because new fires erupt nearly every day. Most are quickly contained but we are never free of the risk until winter.

I hope you are all well and enjoying the last weeks of summer. I think if you every day. Will check in again soon.

Wonderful news about your nephew Lola, you have every right to be proud of him as it's such a 'cut throat' business. xx

Hope everyone else is ok.

The weather here in our part of the UK has taken a turn of the worse this week-end, which is typical of our weather on a holiday weekend. Just hoping we get some better weather, at least dry weather next weekend as we will be walking round a grass field at an Agricultural Show where Bob is judging Aberdeen Angus Cattle.
We are also meeting up there with a couple we made friends with on our Christmas Cruise, which wil be good. Another couple we met at the same time have been to spend this last weekend with us which has been great.
Love to all

Hi Lola and Lesley -

Lola -- Wow, what great news for you and your nephew! I admire anyone who can design; I always thought costumes would be the most interesting part of creating theatrical productions; they're so important - every detail matters. I know how proud you must be.

The fires continue, but containment is complete on the one closest to us and progressing pretty well on the other. It's mostly confined to forest areas and isn't an immediate threat to life - at least for now. I hope the skies over Montana are bright and blue too.

Today was the first day we've had without significant smoke in our atmosphere. It cooled down to the mid-80's and we even had a breeze. This morning it was around 60 and cloudy, and I felt like fall is finally on its way. Honestly, I can't wait. There have been days when the smoke was so heavy we couldn't see the mountains - we couldn't even see across the valley below us.

Lesley -- It's great that you made some lasting friendships on your trip. I still have a few treasured friends I met in England three years ago and that's one of the most amazing things about traveling to me.

Enjoy the Ag show and your time with family and friends.

Hi, Lola -- I, too, am so sad about Senator McCain's death. Although I never met him, it felt personal. My dad served in Vietnam, and they were about the same age. Even though I disagreed with some of his political positions from time to time, I always had a great deal of respect for his independence and willingness to reach across the aisle for the greater good. I fear our political system will never be the same without this type of leadership.

Take care and keep the faith --
Paula

Hi, Lola - Your nephew sounds like someone I would love to meet. And I, too, am so discouraged by what I see happening around us that I can't bear to watch the news anymore. I'm considering giving up social media altogether. message 2375: by Jina (new)

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Hi Everyone,
So sorry I have been MIA for so long. Ihave had a couple crappy months in some ways and blessed in others. My pain is horrible because I had to stop taking medication for the pain for a couple weeks because I was swelling from too much in my system. When they told me I could take some again they cut it back to one pill of each once a day instead of 3 times a day. Now this last 2 weeks I couldnt take anything again not even my supplements. Surgery is still scheduled for Thursday and I am a little scared. They guess it will take around 4 hours and at least 3 incisions by 2 surgeons. If you would like I will have Sam update you with how the surgery went.
I was in a car accident with the Sam and Heather August 20th. I was the 3rd car back in line at a red light when a guy driving a mini coup plowed into the drivers side of my car. He was coming out of Burger King parking lot, he crossed over two north bound lanes and the center median and hit me in the first south bound lane after the median. He was given a ticket but since he didnt report the accident to his insurance they didnt pick up liability until this last Thursday when they finally got a hold of him. We had to file a claim with our insurance so we could start repairs but we had to pay our $1000 deductible first. I have missed so many appointments since the accident wasnt our fault my insurance company wouldnt get us a rental car and Sams car was in the shop getting nearly $1000 worth of repairs on it. We just got her car back Friday. My neck and shoulder hurt so bad from the seat belt and I was wearing my back brace so the seat belt across that made the brace bruise my ribs. I already had an appointment scheduled for 2 days later with my spine dr so they did xrays and scans of my back and neck and are going to let me know if there was any changes in either from the scans a month earlier when I go to have surgery Thursday. I had to hire a friend to take me to that appointment and help with her gas so I am keeping track of all the days Michael has missed from work, the appointments we have had to cancel, and all the other expenses we have had because of this accident. Heather and Sam were fine thank God. Sam had a headache and her lower back spasmed that night because she braced for impact when she seen he wasnt slowing down.
Things with Sarah are as bad as ever. She called me August 14th trying to tell me she didnt receive the pell grant and wanted money for school. I told her I knew for a fact she got the pell grant because she used our taxes to file the Fafsa and we got the confirmation email saying she got it and a $500 scholarship as well as money from the North Carolina lottery. She was just trying to get money out of me. She got mad when it didnt work and I havent heard from her since. I have however heard from a lot of people about her. Nothing good. One day a few weeks ago Michael asked me to sit on the porch with him and so I did. He had gotten a phone call from one of his motorcycle riding/fellow truck driver friends Toothpick(Steve). Steve told my Mike that Beverly and Kelly, his wife and daughter, ran into Sarah in the store. Sarah ran up to them like nothing has happened wanting hugs. Beverly proceeded to tell Sarah "Listen here little girl, you crap on your Dad-ok ,you crap on your sisters- it happens. But you NEVER, should you EVER crap on your Mama! Especially after all she's done for you even after all the stupid stunts you've pulled. " From what Toothpick saw Sarah was tearing up but didnt cry and it seemed more to them like it went in one ear and out the other. Sarah goes to court this month for the breaking and entering charge and then sentencing for both her misdemeanor larceny and the B&E. I raised her better than this. I am so heartbroken. Whats worse is she is still badmouthing me everywhere. One of her professors is a friend of mine from when I went to college in 2010. Sarah is saying I beat her and didnt feed her etc etc. I havent wanted to rain on you guys parade so I haven't posted. I hope you will forgive me. I dearly miss y'all and love you.
I hope all is going well with all of you.
Hugs to all,
Jina
Ps. I am thankful the fires so far have not hurt you Paula or Lola Love you to the moon and back. Sis Lola I know you will feel better once you have your reduction surgery. You will have so much fun shopping for new clothes!! Keep us posted. Would love to see before and after pictures, clothed so I can see your new outfit. Love you oodles. Dear Brandi,
I am happy to hear you and your son are getting settled into your new normal. It takes time so make sure you cut yourself a break. A friend of mine who has small children is doing an absolutely genius thing with her small children. Twice a month she makes a "date night" with her children. She has a 8 yr old girl and 6 yr old boy. When its girls night out they get all dolled up and go for supper (usually "Golden Corral" or the Hibachi grill so there is a variety to choose from and then they hit the mall or something meanwhile the son gets to have a friend over and the "cool" babysitter so he doesnt feel left out. Then when its Mom and son date night they sometimes go to Chuckie Cheese or Golden Corral and then either a movie or the arcade or to a ball game. Meanwhile the daughter gets to stay home with Grandma or the cool babysitter and watch movies or have a tea party. The kids are doing fabulous. Unfortunately the husband has cancelled more visitation weekends than he has kept so thats hard but when he does they pop popcorn and play games or watch a movie at home. I have every faith in the world that you and your son will be fine and the right guy will show up when he is meant to.
Hugs,
Jina

Jina,
You can raise your children but they have a free will and make rough decisions. I . Mom and I are still keeping Sarah on our prayer list and praying for you and the rest of the Family. I am glad that the accident was not worst. Surgery is always scary as you have to give control over . After surgery and the recovery, Jina you will feel better. Do not ever feel like you cannot let us know how things are. We are here for you to vent and let off steam and pressure. Tell Sam ,we would like updates on your progress when she has the time. Tell Michael , Sam and Heather hi . Know you are in our thoughts and prayers as you head for surgery.

I am teaching one class, Orientation. I have been blessed with a group of students who want to learn so I am enjoying it . Thanks for asking. My eye is not as strong so I have to take more breaks when grading but it is getting better. I went for a regular eye exam and no changes so that is good. I go back to the retina doctor Nov. 30.

All hings take time. Just remember to enjoy your son and tiny steps. Now if I can just follow my advice I will be fine too as I get impatience easily. Have to remember to change what we can and what you can not ask God to take care of it. to make me remember, I have a sign on the ref that says" Good morning, I am God. I am taking care of everything today so you can relax and have a good day'.
Brandi, you have coma along way just like how where you were a year ago an see where you are now. Little steps make improvements and sometimes the detours are needed to get us to learn what is needed on the next leg of the journey /adventure.

I cant stay on long the meds have me groggy and out of it. The first few hours after surgery I laid there and watched rabbits hopping around on the walls. I even told Michael to get me a carrot to feed it to the rabbits. Morphine pump had me trippin'. I could push the button when it lit up green. So Michael told me that when the green button turned on I would shout(not loud because my throat was scratchy from the anesthesia) "Green means Go!" And I would push the button over and over until the blinking stopped. I got to go. I've gotten pretty drowsy. I will tslk to you soon

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Hi all,
It looks like my area is going to get a direct hit from the hurricane. If you would like you can watch the forecasts etc from our local stations. WITN7 or WNCT are the ones that would give the best reports and the current photos of the scene. I hope all is wonderful with you.
Hugs,
Jina

I cant stay on long the meds have me groggy and out of it. The first few hours after surgery I laid there and watched rabbits hopping around on the walls. I even told Michael to get me..."

Hi Jina, Pleased your back with us, even if you are very drowsy. Hope the surgery was a success & you recover well. Take care of yourself & I hope you & the family stay safe from the Hurricane.
Love & hugs, Lesley

Lesley | 669 comments Just a thought but can any one remember where they were 17 years ago today?
Bob & I were in Arlington Cemetry, Washington DC as part of a coach trip round New England before Crusing home to the UK from New York. Boy did that change quickly.
Love to all xx

Brandi (poohfanatik) | 117 comments for everyone in the path of the hurricane, please be safe!!

Ryan and I are doing good. I seem to be getting a bit more time with him as his dad is out of town a lot for work. We try to make sure it is fair though. I am still getting my finances under control but it is getting better. Still a ways to go.

Ryan seems to be adjusting well. Seems to be mom's house is play house as I will get on the floor and play with him. Dad's house is a bit more structured with worksheet for his ABCs, they tend to go out a bit more after supper. His dad is not one to stay home and sit. I think Ryan appreciates the down time when he comes to my house.

I have new windows going into the house in November so all the single pane wood windows will have been replaced. I am hoping in a couple of years to move into his school district just in case this thing with his dad's girlfriend doesn't work out. I really want a ranch style with 2 bedrooms and a bath on the main floor and in the basement. we will see. My house is 100 years old so things are starting to need replacing.

Jina, You will always be in my thoughts! I hope things smooth out soon.

Brandi

Hey Sis,
I am praying for you and the family daily. Sweet Samantha has been so good to keep me informed of your progress. She is a sweetheart and I am so glad you have her to take good care of you and Heather. I know you are in a good deal of pain so I am not bothering you with posts on your page. I am always here when you are in need of an ear to hear or a voice to soothe. And always praying.
I love you, sis, and I will keep looking in on you.
Linda

Lola | 1001 comments Hi All,
Glad to hear from all of you ! Lil Sis please take care , in my prayers always.

You know how we always question our selves . Well last night made it positive to me about the surgery , I rolled over on my boob and almost went to the ceiling ,it hurt so bad I couldn't go back to sleep ,so I was up at 4:30 this morning. Remembering where I was 17 years ago, I was a sleep , we are 2 hours behind New York.Wolf was up putting together our new tv system and Jen called us and told him, he woke me and the first thing I saw on our new TV was the second plane flying in. We were in shock, and sat there all day watching the news. Lesley that must have been scary with the plane that went into the Pentagon.

I am heading into Helena today ,Wolf has his yearly oncology exam and I am going in to buy all the frozen meals we will be living on for the next couple of weeks . I didn't know that I will not be able to do much of anything for 2-6 weeks, I can't bend over at the waist , pick anything up that has any weight or lift my arms higher than shoulder level. So lots of Microwave dinners.

Hope everyone is safe, any word from Paula ? That was a scary new video of the fire on the interstate ! Love Lola
