Moira (11moira) | 242 comments So I was thinking it would be nice to read a book about the Fourth on the fourth and this book popped into my head and I can't remember the title.

What I do remember is that at the start she's reading in the park and there's lots of families around, getting ready for the fireworks later. The hero spots her when out for a jog and stops at her blanket and tries to chat her up. I remember she was wary, I think she had a troubled past and there were tears in her eyes at one point. He tells her he'll return later with a picnic once he showers, but he's gone so long she begins to doubt him. But he does come back and they have their picnic and I remember he stops on the way back to their cars to give the leftovers to a home less vet (which makes me think he might be ex military but that's a guess). He walks her back to her car, which I think was a big pick-up, and there's at the least a heavy make-out session, but they might have had sex!

Please help, all guesses are welcome! :)

Was the guy a ex - military who then went on to opening a private security and detective agency by hiring other ex - military guys . Who feel kind of lost after leaving the army?.

Does that sound familiar because read a book where hero as I explained before ^^^ . Has his agency and see's a homeless guy who he thinks has post-traumatic stress disorder and tries to get him help but the hopless guy refuse. I think it's that book because the hopeless guy is also a ex - military vet but he always hangs out the hero office car park and the hero leaves food for him regularly.

Let me know if that rings any bells???

The opening his own security firm does sound familiar, but from what I remember the only interaction he has with the homeless person is giving him the rest of their picnic, but I could be wrong.
