Simmie (simmiegal) | 15 comments So I generally like action/adventure/romantic reads with Male/Female character archetypes. I'm looking for a book where the assassin can be M/F but they won't kill the intended target because they are infatuated or something to that affect. I don't mind PNR but I would prefer not to read anymore BDSM. I'm excited to see what you guys suggest and thanks very much in advance.

In a discussion about anti-heros this series was mentioned several times. I haven't read them but several people had and liked them a lot. I don't think they're BDSM-type books.

If you don't mind books with a good bit of humour, as well as a LOT of romance, there is the Bombay Assassins series.'Scuse Me While I Kill This Guy is the first book in the series. In this series, it's an entire FAMILY of professional assassins. And it's been the family trade for hundreds--if not thousands--of years.

If you want a fantasy one, Villains by Necessity is an interesting one. The archetypes are totally skewed in this book.

Spark is a futuristic dystopian.

You can leave the thread open indefinitely.

Rachel | 1527 comments You could try The Sisters Brothers It's about two hired assassins who are looking for a man on their hit list but start questioning if they should go through with it. Not much in the way of romance though.

Jana Deleon has a series that is set in a bayou in LA (the state, not the city in CA) called the Miss Fortune Mystery Series. The MC is a female CIA assassin who is hiding out in small town LA because her cover has been blown and some kind of nasty big bad is after her. Louisiana Longshot is the first book in the series

Wendy | 82 comments Barry EislerThe Rain series.. Read them in order. Rain is a biracial Japanese assassin. It depicts the seedier side of Japan as well as what locals would call home. For some reason Eisler has a few of his books with different titles.
Assassin's Apprentice Robin Hobb is a fantasy
The Accident Man Tom Cainis truly excellent but very violent I may have reviews on all of them
Putting Louisiana Longshot on my TBR
