How many books do you read at once?

My friends all think I am crazy. I can read up to 6 books at once. I usually try to keep them different genres so the stories don't overlap but I have a bad habit of just picking up another book when I haven't finished the one I am reading. Here is how I make it work...

I have audible! When I am in my car or cleaning the house, etc. I plug in my headphones or turn on my Bluetooth and that gets me by. Right now that book is The Eye of the World.

Next, I always have a book loaded onto my phone. For some introverts, like myself, it has always been socially unacceptable for you to crack open a book in front of company. However, it is now the norm for people to check Facebook or Twitter and be on their phones. I have to say it annoys me to no end but I do take advantage of it at times and have a book ready for when I don't feel like starting an argument. That book is The Magicians' Guild.

Then I always have the book club read, and I always join a pick it for me group. And there is always that book that comes along to distract me from the rest. Usually a Charlaine Harris or a Kim Harrison novel.

And lastly, I have what I call my "toilet reader", which is exactly what you think it is. I just finished up The Rithmatist and haven't selected another. I don't know why I do this other than the fact that it sometimes convinces my husband to pick up a book. I have caught him browsing the books I put in there and have even seen him crack open one or two.

I don't think I've ever read just one :)

Sarah (sarah23l) Hi, I'm new to the group! I love this thread because I don't know many people who read more than one book at a time! I usually have 4-6 going at once. I always have an audio for when I'm driving, cooking, or cleaning. I always have a Kindle read too because I can access it from my phone during those times when I don't have a physical book with me, like when I'm waiting in line or at the doctor's office. I always have actual books to read too. Right now I'm doing a buddy read with a friend, a professional development book (I'm a teacher), and two texts for my Master's classes. I couldn't imagine reading only one book at a time...I like having options!
I'm looking forward to reading some great books with all of you! :-)

Trinity I loved that post! Haha!
I read Charlaine and Kim too. I too have what I call book ADHD .. At least in my case. You seem to be much more organized than me. My current reading list says 14 or something. Oh well. With me, I might lose the mood for one and pick up another for a while then go back to the first or yet another besides those other two, finish it, then go back and finish one of the others and start two more.
I haven't had good success w listening to books yet. I try. If you know any good readers please tell me. lol.

If you like romance, Phil Gigante is an excellent reader but he does things like KMM's Kiss of the Highlander. They are great but they are most definitely romance and they tie into the Fever series.
