maven-*betrays his soon to be wife and his own brother, tries to kill them*
Marven shippers-*OMG HE'S SO CUTE AND SWEET OMFG*

If she does not end up with Cal I would rather she ended up with her best friend Kilron or alone, dont want to give Maven a second chance.

I wouldn't care if she ended up with kilorn, either. Hell, she can go ahead and introduce someone NEW, just not Maven. Or as the Marven fangirls probably say,"mavey, wavey."

I rarely see Cal shippers, and there is more fan art of Maven then Cal. By a lot.

besides - i like the chemistry that he has with Mare - there's just something there that i appreciate.

On another subject Have you seen the cover for the second book.
Its Amazing

I know he is nothing like Warner. At all. I'm just saying the situation in the PLOT could be similar. Like, Juliette despised warner and then they spent time together and.....yeah... stuff happened (i don't want to spoil it, lol)

Anyway, we havent seen the full potential of Cal yet and I think thats why most people like Maven because they dont see that potential. I think the few of us that love Cal do see it though. Anyway, I hope Im right.

Yeah, exactly. And I dont think Maven can truly redeem himself the way that Warner did. I think he can find redemption but I really dont think he is right for Mare. Plus Cal is the true king and from the title of the first book 'red queen' kind of predicts that Mare will become a leader of her people. So Cal and Mare are kind of a match from heaven. They just need to start fresh and get to know one another better.
I think the main reason people hate Cal is because he betrayed Mare. But only in a way that he believed he had no choice. He is the heir and has a certain loyalty to his people so its understandable that he betrayed her. And yet, people still prefer Maven even though his betrayal was a thousand times worse. People are always trying to justify his actions by saying he was manipulated by his mother. But in reality he still choose to betray everyone. That was his own choice.
And I so agree about Warner. He's amazing.

Aw thankyou. And Im glad that there are some people out there that dont bite my head off when I talk about how Cal is better for mare (in the long run) than maven. Im just waiting until book two when people start liking Cal more.
@Ariauna - yeah, not looking forward to that. But they should know what they will be getting into just by the title of the discusion. And they uave their own 'we love maven' discusions so we should be allowed to express our feelings for our prefered guy without judgement.

He did seem nice, but it was almost too nice, you know? I can't say that I saw it coming, but he always just had that... vibe. It did catch me off guard though.

Don't know how but just did.

I got that vibe too. Its funny though cuz I had the idea that if I was the author I would have Maven turn out to be bad. It was more like a crackpot theory and I was surprised that it actually happened. Most of my theories never end up happening. And even though I did suspect, it didnt undermine the shock I got when it was revealed that Maven was evil.

I thought Maven was great, but I shipped Mare x Cal the whole book. When everyone was going on about betrayal hitting hard in this book, my first thought was the royal family. 65% in I started to suspect Maven, but I was not expecting him to go that far. Its always the underappreciated prince. That much was clear.
I think Maven betraying Cal was even worse than him betraying Mare. My poor bae, Cal. First Mare tries to play him, then his brother kills his father. Life hurts.

Exactly

I cannot wait for Glass Sword. Mare and Cal have already hit the absolute bottom in their relationship, so I'm hoping it can only get better from there. It may take Cal a while before he can trust again though. He's given up.
