Lisa Emme (Lisa_Emme) | 20 comments Hi. I'm getting ready to publish the first book in my trilogy and I was hoping to get some input on the book blurb. Is it catchy enough? Does it sound like something you'd want to read? Do you think it fits in PNR or UF? I was thinking it's more UF. There is a romantic element that does develop over the course of the three books, but it isn't the main part of the story. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

Dead and Kicking - The Harry Russo Diaries, volume 1
by Lisa Emme

What’s a girl to do when her date is D.O.A?

Angharad ‘Harry’ Russo is just your ordinary twenty-something, with one exception - she’s a witch with an out of the ordinary gift. When her blind ‘date’ goes sideways and she ends up face to face with a dead body rather than Bryce, the cute ‘Cary-Grant-if-Cary-Grant-was-Asian’ look-alike she was promised, her life starts to go sideways too.

It’s a case of ‘werewolves and vampires and zombies, oh my!’ When Harry finds herself having to deal with Cian Nash, a homicide detective that is as aggravating as he is sexy, Salvador Arroyo, the biggest, baddest vampire in town, and a parcel of pesky zombies that keep popping up everywhere with Harry right in the middle of the mayhem. It’s all connected to Bryce’s murder or is there more to it?

I hope to have book one release Sept/Oct this year. You'll just have to read the book to find out her extraordinary gift. Don't want to give too much away ;-)

I'm glad the blurb seems to have intrigued you :-)

Now I'm really intrigued....I look forward to hearing when it will be available....

Nice job! I feel like it is definitely my genre.

Rebecca | 24 comments Great blurb--and definitely interests me! Some thoughts from a fellow author: in a blurb, you should just name the book's two main characters; all those names get confusing otherwise. Here's my rewrite, although it's not clear as to which MC is the main character. You could keep both men, I guess, but then take Bryce's name out of it. I made a few other small changes, too. Hope this helps, and good luck!
