Questions about Ludus

It depends how many people sign up.
There'll be 16 teams at the start, so we'll try to fill them equally.

I'm guessing we'll stick with the original threads since otherwise on the last round the thread would have a huge amount of people on it.
I'm trying to work out a way of propagating goals to other teams spreadsheets but I think it may involve a bit of searching around to see what fits where. I suspect the more involved people are the better your team will do.

Also if we start a book during round 1 and don't finish it, can we continue the book and use it for round 2?

It counts both for attack and defense.

The book will count for the round matching its finish date.

thanks Kelly =)

Actually it August 2, but yes, if you start book this month it won't count.

August 2nd. We're trying to prevent people piling up 12+ books at the start and equalize things a bit more.

Mods, that's a really good rule modification. Really equals the playing field. Nicely done. ☺

1 book every 2 weeks :)

We asked members who want to sign-up, to do it if they are able to read at least 1 book per round (2 weeks). That would be minimum requirement.
If you can estimate how much you'll be able to read during that period, just use that number during sign-ups

Well, I did type more :P
(and it didn't help I had phone call while doing it)

Excuses, excuses
ehhehehehe
Anyway, I was just teasing... you're the "chatty" one, not me :)

For Example:
One of our goals is character first name K.
Someone reads Book A with character Kate on Monday so we add that to our goals.
Someone reads Book B with character Ken on Tuesday and it doesn't fit for any of our current goals.
On Thursday we get a new goal of character first name D.
Book A also has a character Dan.
Can we move Book A to meet the new goal and assign Book B to the previous goal from earlier in the week?

We have three goals -- we only get to use one book per goal, and then we get another goal (defense points)?
So if multiple team members are reading towards a goal, only the first one gets credit, right? But we will get credit for the book read (attack points).
Once a goal is completed we get a new goal, and if the book someone was reading towards a completed goal happens to also meet the new goal, they can use it towards that if we haven't already claimed it?
Not sure if I'm wording this correctly, but I'm trying to figure out how things work with 3 goals and six team members.
Thanks!

You get credit for all the books you read in attack points. You can apply those books towards goals to get defense points. Once a book has been applied towards a defense point you can't move it. A new goal should appear in your list within 5 minutes once you complete one. You may use any books read during the current round towards goal completion (only one goal per book).
So yes, if a book was already completed you can apply it to the new goal as long as it was read during the current round. Each round is 2 weeks.

I have a few books that are two books/novellas in one, where the two books separatly are app.140pg, but the two-in-one book that I have is 280pg++. Do these books count or not?

I'd say it could count if you read it as one book and tag it that way.
Now I'm not sure if it could be used for tasks. I'll check with other mods to be sure about that one. :)

So, we go by the countdown clock? So even if it's still the 1st where I live, if the clock says start, we can start reading?

Going by countdown :)
When it gets to zero, start reading

Looking into it.
That's Baum, right? Your link isn't working. :)

Oops, sorry about that. I've fixed the link in my original post, and yes, it's Baum. Thank you :)

Repeating from your team thread (for others :P), count it as V. :)

OK, they should work if they have enough pages. So check page numbers :)

Got it, thanks for checking :D
Check those Wizard of Oz books on arbookfind.com as I know from previous challenges many of them are too short (example book 1 is only about 15,000 pages) and won't count

The later books that I'm reading in the series all seem to fit the page requirement, but I'll make sure to double-check before reading. Thanks for the reminder :)

Yes.

"only 15,000 pages" ?!?!? uh, I may have joined the wrong challenge here...

But you only have to read one every two weeks. lol

We are usually going by edition you are reading. (Or edition you have tagged as read on your shelf)
