Baker Books (baker_books) | 147 comments Hi - could someone please add/update this book.

TITLE: The Road to Becoming: Rediscovering Your Life in the Not-How-I-Planned-It Moments
AUTHOR: Jenny Simmons
ISBN:9780801000232
PUBLISHER: Baker Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group
PUBLICATION DATE: 9/1/2015
FORMAT: trade paper
DESCRIPTION: Wake up each new day and say yes.

There is a moment in all of our lives when leaning into the unknown becomes our only viable pathway forward. This is the moment you must ask, "Do I believe the Storyteller knows better than anyone else my part in the story?" If the answer is yes, pack your bags and get ready to follow God into the unknown.

In this vulnerable, laugh-out-loud book, Jenny Simmons shares her own journey through seasons of change and lostness, dead ends and detours, and finally into the terrifying, unknown, God-designed future. The road to becoming is not easy, but it is here you'll begin to discover that new life--life abundant--is always, ever among us. Dancing on the horizon.

Suzie (sen_spence) | 22 comments This ISBN number has been reused; it's already being used on a book called Devotions for Women by Evelyn McCullough Anderson. While publishers are not supposed to reuse ISBN numbers, it does happen on occasion. I will create the book without putting the ISBN in the ISBN field. I will put it in the description and leave a note on both books explaining it. I will post back when it is done.

Baker Books (baker_books) | 147 comments This could be because I messed up the ISBN! Here: 9780801019555 is the correct ISBN. So sorry, Suzanne!

Suzie (sen_spence) | 22 comments I found 4 ISBNs associated with this title on WorldCat. Fortunately, not all of them have been used. There will be unique ISBNs in the ISBN fields. I have also all ISBNs in the description plus a note on the ISBN that was reused. The book has been created. You should be able to see it shortly.

Baker Books (baker_books) | 147 comments Hi Suzanne -

We had some issues with ISBNs earlier this year, but I think most of them have been sorted out by now. The only ISBN we would like linked with this edition of the book is 9780801019555. That way, we won't have confusion or list the other book title (Good Morning, Lord) on this page. That way it can also be distinguished from the self-published edition of the book.

Thanks!!

Suzie (sen_spence) | 22 comments Note to fellow librarians: These two books appear to be separate books made decades apart, written by different authors, but created by the same publishers. One of the ISBNs brings up both books on WorldCat and Amazon.com. I consider this book to be a reboot of the same series (Good Morning, Lord) but not the same book. I have documented each action carefully and left notes here and on both books. If I have erred in my judgment it should be easy for any one of us librarians to fix. I will continue to monitor this post for notes on corrections from the publisher Baker Books.

Suzie (sen_spence) | 22 comments Just refreshed page. Didn't get the posts until now. Everything should be fine; I did wind up using the ISBN: 9780801019555 and it comes up uniquely to that book. I will go back and erase the list of ISBNs from the top of the description and move it to the bottom to make it more aesthetically pleasing but I will leave the note on the one ISBN that brings up both books. Hope everything is to your liking.

Baker Books (baker_books) | 147 comments Thank you! Sorry for the craziness. I appreciate your help.

lethe | 16368 comments Suzanne, neither of these ISBNs brings up both titles in GR, so I don't think the ISBNs in the description are necessary, they're probably just confusing.

Baker, searching for The Road to Becoming I found 3 separate titles, two of which have different subtitles. Are they all the same book? Should they be combined?

Suzie (sen_spence) | 22 comments I think you are right. Since it comes up properly for us we don't need it in the description. I have removed it and left the librarian notes about Amazon and WorldCat. This should remove any confusion to our users but let librarians know that if they search that one ISBN in other databases they will both come up. Thanks for the input.

Great!

Baker Books (baker_books) | 147 comments One of these is a self-published edition that is not affiliated with Baker. The edition coming through this fall is part of Baker Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group. The final edition is a mistake I believe as Zondervan never published this book.

lethe | 16368 comments I merged the nearly empty edition and combined the other two: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Baker Books (baker_books) | 147 comments Sorry! Last request - could we make the other, newer version the primary and the old, self-published edition the secondary one? When I search the old version comes up first. Thanks!

lethe | 16368 comments The default is the edition that has been shelved/rated the most, so it will take time for a new edition to become the default. Only GR authors can change which of their editions shows up first.
