Yes, get on Wikipedia to determine the chronological order. Each book can stand alone, but I enjoyed both series more when I re-read them in the time order by which the stories occur. Both of those series are hands-down some of my fav sci fi of all time. If you like Asimov, make sure to read Arthur C. Clarke's short novels, assuming you have not. ;)

I would always read any series in the published order. After all, that's how they were written.

Yes, both are must reads for science fiction fans that think. You should definitely read them in the order of publication. Foundations is like playing chess with fifty people all at once and trying to think of your moves for the next fifty games. Great series.
