Let me know if I should add another week to make the readings lighter. I figured out each chapters a week. I understand it is summer and hopefully the schedule isn't too dense.
Sounds good Irene. It sounds like a lot, but I now see that these chapters are all pretty short! And if people can't keep up we can always stretch it out. :-)
I spent a lot of time on airplanes yesterday so I am about half done with the book. I am really enjoying it so far and will look forward to discussions.
Started this one last night and it sucked me right in (and I really had not looked at the book at all to see what it was going to be about before starting it). Looking forward to our discussion!
I picked mine up last night. I will start today. Lokking forward to this book and group read. Looks like a great group :)

I read this book a couple of months ago & enjoyed it. Will try to join in discussion when it gets started.
I hope to start later tonight. Maybe I should keep a notebook handy and jot down all the character's names.
Keeping the names straight gets easier as you move along. I am close to done with the book already and feel that it is a well-written story.

Great book! Finished this last night and just have to say thank you to Irene for suggesting this and leading. This is not a book I would have probably ever picked up on my own, but I am very glad to have read this one!
Also found this story on bocha posh, from a 2010 New York Times, for those interested in this topic, which I had never heard of before reading this book:

I also enjoyed the book very much. It was a great insight to Afghan women for me. I loved the ending and was so happy her leaving was facilitated by the women who opened up more earning to her. I also had no prior knowledge of the bacha posh and learned about it from reading this book. Thank you Irene for leading. I can't wait for
. I think this authors writing is amazing.
