Dan in AZ | 2960 comments 1. The Shadow Patrol, Alex Berenson. John Wells helps to uncover a plot after the CIA runs into problems in Afghanistan. 4
2. Cut, Paste, Kill, Marshall Karp. Lomax and Briggs investigate the murder of a socialite who was responsible for a child's death. 4Minus
3. A Better World, Marcus Sakey. Book Two in Brilliance trilogy finds Nick Cooper going to work for the new president. While that doesn't work out too well, new information comes to light that could change everything. Not everyone is happy about that, and while things certainly do change, it's not what might be expected. 4 (I gave Book One a 4 rating too, but if Book Three is good, I'll rate the series as a whole a 4Plus).
4, Criminal, Karin Slaughter. Flashback double story was confusing and distracting as it tried to explain why corn pops don't get soggy in milk - well, not that, but everything else about all the characters who've appeared in numerous earlier books in the series. 3Plus
5. The Night Crerw, Brian Haig. CIA runs amuk in Iraq, and Sean shows he's not going to back down for anyone. A little far fetched. 4Minus
6. Cuba Straits, RWW. Doc Ford, a Managuan dictator turned baseball player smuggler, Tomlinson, a Russian hit man and a 10 year old terror combine for...not much. 4Minus
7. Unidentified Woman #15, David Housewright. Whoever told him that using the phrase "my inner voice told me" 25 or 30 times every book should be shot. Otherwise, not bad. 4Minus

BarryP (barrypz) | 3502 comments My inner voice suggested that I start rating my books using irrational numbers, but the text field in Goodreads is not big enough. I did enjoy the Housewright this month also.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9510 comments Sounds like you had more so-so books than usual, but still, a full month. Too bad about the Slaughter.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Dan: An interesting month! I am considering your comment about ranking a trilogy (for the Marcus Sakey Brilliance books). Sometimes the sum of the parts are bigger than the parts!
I really enjoyed Criminal, but perhaps that was from reading it from a female POV. As they say, "your mileage may vary"

Merrilee in AZ | 1121 comments Good month. I liked Criminal.

Dawn | 1371 comments Good month! I liked Criminal more than you did. That reminds me, I should go add Angie to my "Women..." discussion...ugh. Just finished Unidentified Women #15, and it was a quick enjoyable read. I've started The Night Crew but its on my Kindle, so I have some library books I need to get to first. But I like Drummond!
