Jake's rationale for resisting a relationship with Angela was because of his guilt associated with his wife's death. Did you connect with his reasoning?

He was determined to cut himself off from a close, intimate relationship because of guilt. We've seen this theme in other stories a bit too often, not just speaking of this author.

I could see him resisting a deep commitment but not starting a relationship. So not a fan of these romance tropes/themes.
