Ashes sounds good. Not sure if id vote for deano. He's been a favorite of mine, and id read anything of his anyway. There are just too many books I want to read.
February group read suggestions thread is up, anyone suggesting any classic horror to count towards the classic horror challenge? how about at the mountains off madness as half of a novella suggestion?
Now long is a Novella again? I just finished mountains of madness in a compilation. About 200 pages.
After MOM, I want to read "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket" by Edgar Allen Poe. It is referred to early in MOM, and may even have been an inspiration.
Novellas are typically 20,000-50,000 words longs according to Lee Masterson, which about matches up with what I was familiar with for length, which is around 30,000 words
I am new to this group but all of the titles you have mentioned sound good and I would gladly read any of them. I am reading Children of the Night in catch up fashion and it is great. I haven't read Summer of Night and understand it is sort of a prequel to Children of the Night?
Hey Gary! So glad to see you here. Feel free to join our discussion in Children of the Night. Currently you can discuss up to the 50% mark without spoilers. It changes every Sunday, so it gives you plenty of time to read it. Summer of Night is not a prequel. Simmons uses Mike O'Rourke from Summer of Night, but you don't have to read it before Children of the night, though it is an extra added benefit to read about Mike as a grown-up:)
Thanks Addy! I am loving that book right now and can't put it down. I will avoid spoilers until I get caught up. My goal is 50% by this weekend so I can read and comment
Addy wrote: "Would anyone vote for the bird eater? Looks good. I'll prob nominate for April."That really does look good, Addy.
It's already out? Sorry addy I take back what I said about voting for it, no way I'm waiting a month.
No, if u look it up and can buy it now for 1.99, I would. If not, then when the deal is over it comes out later for a higher price.
Ahh, guess the deal is over. I usually get an email about it. Might have to be something to subscribe to....sorry guys. Buddy read maybe?
Yeah, you get to keep it. It is free if you have Amazon Prime. So you basically get two free books a books a month with Prime, though one of them is just a rental
Oh, I don't have prime. They send me an email and I can choose to buy it for a cheaper price before its released. Maybe its different for prime?
Here is the link for Kindle First:http://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/kind...
And yes, $1.99 if not a Prime member, which is good all month. Just opened the link in an incognito window in Chrome. Once you buy one the rest become regular priced preorders I think
Amazon usually sends me a selection of 4 or 5 books that haven't been released yet. I think its called kindle first. Its worth it to subscribe. I could still suggest it for April. Its just kind of expensive.
You're welcome. I think it's kinda funny that the 2 thrillers have 21 reviews, the women's fiction book has 38 and the mystery has no reviews at all as of right now, lol
Wow, the mystery is #2 in Kindle store. Either it is so damn long people haven't finished it yet or people haven't cared enough either way to review it. It is 642 pages, so that could be why there is a lack of reviews so far
I just bought it. It has my vote for April's read. I'm going to be off of Goodreads and all social media until April 18th, so I won't be able to officially vote.
Thanks for the info Addy. I just joined Kindle first and picked up the book for $1.99. All four of those books look good.
Cool. I'm hoping it'll win for April. I got The Neighbors not too long ago that I need to read as well. Seed was pretty awesome so I have high hopes with this one.
I guess since so many people have said they will vote for it I will wait. It won't be easy though.
I'd be tempted to read this now, but I have 3 titles to read and review for Dark Regions and likely going to read
soon too. I'd maybe recommend it for next month's read, but I think I'd rather do a group read of The Bird Eater.
Come on guys...lol. Just think about the 600+ books you have waiting for your attention on your kindles:)
Justin wrote: "Yea I just got more books to review for deadite press, I should get on those."How did you get those? Not sure how much from them I'd really care for, but I know they publish some I'd probably enjoy, mainly Brian Keene though
Addy wrote: "Come on guys...lol. Just think about the 600+ books you have waiting for your attention on your kindles:)"LOL, I have a lot of physical books to read too, but so what? :P I typically read more than one book at a time though
Yeah I do that myself. More like juggling 5 or 6, then maybe putting 2 or 3 more I've started on the backburner. Then, I start to struggle to keep up. Don't know why I do that, but it works.

They had a reviewer sign up awhile ago and send the same people review books every month. I don't think you can get on the list now but it wouldn't hurt to try to find a contact email and ask. Just tell them that you would like to join there reviewers list if they are looking for more people.

The April group read suggestions thread is up. From now on rather than send out a broadcast message and get all the non active members who vote and don't participate I am going to be commenting here and Anyone who has commented here will get a notification and see it. Hopefully that will work out good for every one.
When I get a chance I am also going to Create a new member directory thread with links and info. I will tell people in that thread to comment here or subscribe to this thread for updates on all group reads. It will also have a group schedule and clear rules for how woo do or spoiler discussion.
We mostly do horror or dark thriller but just for something different would anyone vote for The Wolf of Wall Street
