We've lost a lot of our older stars and one passed today who I thought we may want to note.

Let's pause a moment and remember Patrick Macnee.

Feliks (dzerzhinsky) Ouch. Bad day eh? I hadn't heard. Ever since Cliff Robertson and Ernest Borgnine passed--and got barely a mention around the net--I refuse to partake in 'R.I.P.' threads.

But yes. Patrick MacNee -- of 'Avengers' fame. I am glad he had a long and productive life. He was a fine presence in any movie or tv show. Glad he got his innings in.

Oh no. That's very sad news.

In the last few years we've lost a lot of "stars" I grew up watching, thought we could start a thread where we could mention or talk about them. We didn't have it when Patrick McGoohan passed 2009 (Secret Agent/Danger Man, The Prisoner), Robert Culp in 2010 (I Spy), Edward Woodward in 2009 (The Equalizer) and so many more.

Just thought we might like to talk about the action stars we remember.

Feliks (dzerzhinsky) About 4 years ago(?) there was one *really* bad stretch when a whole bunch of classic talents went at once. It was painful. Every week or so, some RIP. I think, that was the same year Liz Taylor went. Something like that. Anyway that's when I drew the line.

And then, the shabby way Robertson was treated made me livid. Not even a banner on IMDb. Sad-sacks like Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson, Corey Haim, Farrah Fawcett-Majors--all headline news, but Cliff Robertson rated nothing. Nothing! Ernest Borgnine: nada, zero, zilch.

Another thing: May/June (for some reason) is the usual timeperiod for star deaths; the same way it is for bad jet plane crashes. No one knows why.

Eileen Nice idea, Mike.

After read this I noticed, Omar Sharif, starred in great movies, like "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Doctor Zhivago" died today at age 83.

Saw that. Those are his best known but he was in so many movies. Great actor.

Eileen I think he was in over 80 movies?

Not sure but I recall him showing up in all kinds of films adventure, spy he was in Thirteenth Warrior. He was a good actor.
