Oh, I’m sorry on the tropes we don’t have pirate but we do have it for the Romance Across the Ages Challenge.
We also have Highlander and Viking in the RAA challenge.
I think we’re talking about era v. trope but that is hard to define. If we add these, do we add many of the other RAA categories? I am not saying we can’t add these but it probably requires more discussion.
Pregnant heroine is one that we could add, I believe.
There are also some that are not very popular in that we never select. Perhaps we should also consider retiring some of them. We can see what the results are this year and discuss prior to next year’s planning.

I'd be happy to see the pregnant heroine one in there. I agree that if there are some that are never or hardly ever voted for, maybe they could be dropped. Do we have reform of a rake in our master list of tropes? That's an ever popular one.
I see what you mean about the difference between eras and tropes. I guess we could nominate Viking or pirate etc if they fitted the trope e.g. a Viking-era arranged marriage or virgin hero etc.

We also have Highlander and Viking in the RAA challenge.

I think I got confused between era and trope. LOL
These Lockdowns are causing me to have a sleepy brain. Cannot keep up with what we can or cannot do. LOL

Yes, that is true. Earlier (when the group started), the group reads are mainly sub genre/ era/setting based. So, readers were required to stick to those settings. It had been difficult for members who try to avoid certain eras or settings to participate. Then many of us thought if we could just go by theme/trope, members are free to nominate books from setting/subgenre as long as it fits the trope. That is why the change is moved forward.
RAA challenge which also works like a monthly read includes all the subgenres, for members who prefer to read that way.

It is time for our trope/theme survey.
For new members: We have trope based monthly group reads (BOTM) and to cover all the possible tropes, a couple of years ago, with our members' help we ..."
So what did we end up with? Is it posted somewhere?

Hi Mamacita, So sorry for the delay in response! They have not been posted yet, but we’ll hopefully have them in the next few days. I understand the excitement. I am looking forward to seeing what we’ll be reading next year too!

I was having problems isolating the books from the show and overthinking which was the intent, which clearly means I got the correct answer anyway: Eloise.
I think the only other that might've made sense for me was Anthony. Thanks for sharing!
(I wonder whose favorite Featherington *isn't* pen? Lol

I was thinking “I better not get Benedict” lol
I think fans of the show but not the books might choose Marina, but yea, I imagine that is a very one-sided question.

I thought so too, and yet, still...
The good thing about Benedict is that he *is* romantic. He's just a shithead.

I am liking his portrayal on the show so hopefully his season is better than his book.

Agree, I can see it being high drama, and that's great, but hopefully he's a better hero.

LOL, I was having the exact same problem, and I also got Eloise! I actually wasn't expecting that, but I guess it fits in some ways. I *am* pretty observant and nosy... haha
BTW, I just finished re-reading An Offer From a Gentleman, and I had completely forgotten what a jerk Benedict was, so I'm glad I didn't get him either.

A lot of Eloise’s in our group :) - I would have been happy with her or Hyacinth or Anthony.

I saw today that Joanna Bourne is retiring. It has been a couple years since her last book and there were no announced plans for the next one, so it’s not too surprising. Here is her blog post about it:

I love them, but I know some don’t. She only has 5 or 6 books. I was hoping there would be another. I have been able to get most through my library.

I was looking into some of her titles in the Audible store and availability in library’s eCollections. I was going to try to contact her with a question about her books in eFormat, and discovered that she had died.
Maybe you all mentioned her death over in this group, but I have been largely offline for a while.

I figured it was discussed here.
That’s what I get for being missing in action last year.

No worries on being MIA — I think there are a number of folks that have slowly started being more active again. Even those of us that remained active were reading less in general.

On thinking better of it, I the an HF rather than HR would probably be better...

"Good morning, how are your courses going,"
And immediately think they are referring to the character menstruating...
It took me a second. :) lol

LOL, that is hilarious. I am trying to think of other examples like that. I think I will get caught up in knowing some obscure historical detail.

Oh....I haven't seem any, but I can imagine.

I never used to read books 📚 never had the patience to read 1 chapter . Last year I read about 160 book.

I've always been an avid reader but it wasn't until getting a Kindle and joining GR that I actually began reading more and usually read ~150 books a year. I think its because the books are so easily at hand now.

Hi Cynthia, I like Pirates too, and we do have that as a theme on the master list. You can find that here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
