I wonder if Norman influenced the making of the Norman character in the psycho movie?
Did anyone see how Norman was made sick by life (pregnant woman and sex) but Allison was made sick by death? Are we to see these characters as the same but polar opposites?
I for one don't feel comfortable with the Tomas & Constance rape scene. If feels like rape but also I don't know how experienced her character would be with intimacy. It's like the only way she would let him make love to her is he really wanted it. Like consensual nonconsent otherwise it's all messed up that a character we are supposed to be supporting rapes people.
At first I didn't like how the author jumped around to characters but in a way it's telling that everyone has their sins and flaws. It also serves an underlying purpose to let the reader know that everyone is carrying a burden so be nice to one another. But that might just be my take on it.
I read this book when it first came out to scandalous reviews. I just read (and enjoyed) it again. It's sure not scandalos now, compared, say, to 50 shades of grey.
