The Mark of Athena

More redundant, less... learning?

I mean we learned a little bit, but not as much as before. But we can't really expect HoO to be just like PJO, either, because then it's more like he's continuing on with the PJO instead of making a whole new side series. Still...
He was the monster that ran Triple G Ranch. He had the triple torso that made it harder to kill him because he had three hearts. Irritated Eurytion because he made him do all the work and then took all the credit...
Riordan already used up the main myths (Hercules, Perseus, Odysseus, Achilles, and Theseus) for the first series. That's why there's less learning in the HOO series as he is primarily relying on the myth of Jason.

There are also Roman Heroes such as
Remus, Romulus and Aeneas,
Titus Quinctius Flamininus,
Appius Claudius Caecus,
Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus,
Lucius Junius Brutus,
Publius Horatius Cocles,
Titus Manlius Torquatus
Publius Mucius Scaevola
Marcus Atilius Regulus
Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus
and of course Gaius Julius Caesar

Jk ;)
I get what you mean, they didn't even go into detail on the Tar monsters! And Hercule's island was more of an obstacle rather than a monster. MoA was good, but it was certainly different from the other books. I'm not sure if that's good or bad yet.
