1. Brandon Sanderson is NOT the type of author to do a "happily ever after", as evidenced by the fact that he's a very good author, and by Kelsier's death. I've never read a "happily ever after" that wasn't tacky.
2. No characters, in half-decent books, who are so epic on Vin and Elend's scale, ever have an end other than "peace in death"/ "peace in exile". To the point that I kind of hope someone could come up with something more imaginative already.
3. The way Vin and Elend were sort of "ticking off a bucket list"; they fought and worked together as Mistborn, and crashed a ball and finally had their dance. They were performing bucketlist stuff throughout the third book.
4. The epigraphs early on in the book stated that the world would end "but that isn't a bad thing". This is a big red flag for "death is inevitable, and the only answer to solving this world's problems".
I'm amazed by how many people didn't expect their "peace in death" ending, with so many clues!
Did anyone else pick up any other clues? What were those who didn't guess it expecting would happen? I'm genuinely interested to know :)
I didn't see the ending coming. I was kind of expecting Vin to "expire" as she reached the "non-being" phase and I thought Elend would carry on living and grieving her loss while rebuilding the world. I did, however, decipher the clues as to who is the Hero of Ages around the middle of the final volume ;)
well i didn't expect it to end exactly the way it did but i've been wary ever since Kelsier got shish kebabed. I knew someone was gonna die i just wasn't sure which one/ones or maybe i was just so focused with being annoyed with Elend and Vin that i missed out on a lot of stuff.
