So my Kobo died - and my charger is not present at the moment - but I'm at about 25%.

Kepnes is making me like Joe - or at least his rationality. DESPITE the fact I had a creepy stalker in high school and his Holden Caufield everything is phony tangents. DESPITE the fact he yammers on about classics being things read for status or King being a book version of the kool aide.

Also the F - K stacks references make me chuckle, every.time.

(view spoiler)[ I am at 38%…this book reminds me of my ex-bf from the winter. The one who hacked my bank account. For awhile he was perfect and knew exactly the right thing to say and do. He wouldnt even kiss me for the longest time.

And I was completely taken in and smitten. And then I dont know what happened, it was like all of a sudden I could see his bullshit. Nothing he said rang at all true to me and he seemed to know more about me than he wanted me to know. And I started to suspect that he had found a way to hack my phone. And at the end of our relationship, I start having really inappropriate and sexy conversations with A (who is only in my phone only as "Maestro") and once that happened, J started getting really irrational and clingy until he stopped talking to me and my bank account got hacked. Tje similarities are weird and bizarre.

I admit I am so turned on by Joe. Reading about their interactions and his thoughts and feelings is more tittilating than porn.

And also in a weird way, Joe reminds me of A. Not in his behavior, but his laid back nature. The things he says remind me of things A would say. And A knows me better than my best friends do (in a legit, non stalker way;) ) so there is something to be said about being with someone who knows you so well that they know how you will react, sound, move, think. And THAT is erotic. Way erotic. (hide spoiler)]

That's both terrifying and understandable. I've never cared for smooth talkers who know the right things to say so that element doesn't especially appeal, to me. It's his quiet awkward psychosises that are hooking me. The way he double talks himself ( in his mind ) is fascinating to me.

See and I don't see him as a smooth talker. I can spot salesmen from ten miles away, and Joe and J both said things that were absolutely the RIGHT things to say at the right time, but they never sound like lines. They sound like things coming from guys who know exactly what to say when and what to do when to make girls they want go wild.

I remember when J and I were out one night, and we were walking downtown holding hands and the silence wasn't awkward, but was present, and then out of nowhere, he spins me to look at him and with the most serious look he says "you're going to fall in love with me." And then spins me around again, starts walking and mutters "just so you know." It was so unexpected and so not anything I would fall for, but Omigod that moment still haunts me. And then it was done. And he was holding my hand and he still hadn't kissed me at that point, and then when I'm at my car, he gives me a bear hug (he's 6'5" and 315 of pure muscle....the Tom lookalike) and kisses the top of my head and tells me to go home and get some sleep. And then he was gone. And holy shit if I didn't think about him for the rest of the night.

It's something Joe would do. And it creeps me out. But still turns me on. Honestly, if he didn't hack my bank account, I'd be half tempted to call J and have a rendezvous right now;)

Joe is bringing up thoughts of my own stalker - who seemingly had more malicious intend (of a sort) and was far less good at it. It's unsettling me in a big way. I'm about ready to take it up again, it's been charging a while now, I just wanted to get to 2/3s of the way through WITCHES OF EASTWICK, which I'm almost to.

The Benji falsehood and emprisoning is reminding me of K calling me pretending to be guys whose numbers I had in the back of my planner. ( some of them were my best friends crushes - which is how I clued in because I didn't actually know them) He called pretending to be them a couple days after I 'misplaced' my planner for a few hours at school. Skeevy stuff, that.

I hope this read isn't bringing up bad stuff for you, my dear. I had a "stalker" in high school that was nothing more than stupid boy hormones and once my dad and my boyfriend stepped in, his balls shrank and he disappeared. And yeah J is really recent, but I'm more pissed than freaked out about what happened, so this book really isn't bringing me into a dark place.

I'm just so blown away by the feelings and emotions that this book is making me feel. I am at 45% now and taking a break. Forcing myself to take breaks is hard because I haven't read anything that I craved to read like this in quite awhile. But it's like I don't want to rush to finish it either. I want to take my time, and let everything sink into my brain before I see what's next.

Glad to hear the Witches is at least going, even if its not going well. I had that horrid Innocence novel I read awhile back that was exactly the same:(

It's been okay, just soft flashes of memories, is all. This book is completely devourible :), I'm only at 31% now. Joe's very different than K in almost every way.

I want to hate him - mostly because of the Benji stuff - but Benji's just sooooo awful. It almost makes me happy Joe came along to stop that really sad parody of a relationship. And Peach Is (which is the name a girl I know from school goes by) is HORRID!! And I know we're seeing her through Joe's eyes but gah, it makes me feel like Beck is awful too, for even being friends with such a shallow, spoiled brat.

OMG....my first day back to work after vacation and so much shit went down, good and bad. I was hoping to finish the book tonight, but now I have to go back into work this evening to catch up on paperwork and scheduling. I also now have to bake a peace offering for another supervisor that I dont get along with because we now have to work together more. Uggggggh! It never ever ends!

It wasnt bad. I actually got promoted right before I left for vacation, but there was some drama between me and the front of house supervisor that made me almost turn in my keys. Now I found out today (which is good news) but I am taking over all front of house scheduling which was originally his job. So its good for me, but adds so much drama because he and I just dont get along personality wise and he isnt happy about me getting that task (which actually gives him less work but same pay so its stupid machismo crap).
