SOLVED. Sci-Fi/Fantasy Space. [s]

Hey I am searching for a Sci-fi/fantasy story I heard as an Audiobook in a workshop once, a few years back(5-6). The reading level was above young adult probably. It was a intergalactic Story about beings made out of Periodic Table Elements. Humans were in this story, but they were described as “beings containing tubes” and “consuming poison constantly”. One human was captured and when he escaped he put some elemental princess in some kind of sleep/coma. This launched a series of expeditions to find the key to wake her by the elemental beings, of which all but one failed, only succeeding due to trickery. I would really like to read/ listen to this story again, but I could not find it so far.

You and me both. I have found myself thinking about it more recently, maybe i will visit that workshop again in a month or so, if I do and they know what i am talking about, I will post the result here :)

Yeah, I'm a trifle interested as well. I'm guessing the poison is oxygen, since it's so reactive...

I am quite sorry I don´t remember. I think it was generally foods that we humans eat as a carbon based life form, but it might have been oxygen as well...Lets just say a lot of elements were named in the story :)

Not it, but the "beings containing tubes" bit made me think of They're Made Out of Meat by Terry Bisson.
Your book sounds really good, I hope you can find it.

I have read that story, it is very good and has kind of the same Idea behind it as the one I am searching for, but it is not the one. Thanks a lot for the help though :)

To anyone still interested, I think I finally found that book/books.
Its a collection of stories by a polish author named Stanisław Lem.
The books were named "The Cyberiad". Thanks for all the help and happy reading. :)
