Danielle | 11 comments I'm looking for a fantasy/sci-fi, possibly with some historical references, YA or MG book about a teenage druid girl who maybe travels through time? I could be way off, but that seems right... I think she has to choose a husband soon, and at one point someone has to prove himself or herself by walking across a cliff ledge or other similar precarious path. I can't remember if the druid girl has to walk the ledge or if her potential mate has to do it.

This was a library book, hardback, checked out from the young adult section. I read it sometime between '95 and '99.

Sorry for the lack of details--this one is really escaping me! I remember I discussed it with my grandmother back in the day, and I would love to revisit it :)

Michele | 2488 comments What made the girl a druid -- did they place a lot of reverence on trees, or speak to them, or use them for magic? Was the girl part of a whole tribe of druids, or was it just her? Can you recall what specifically might have made you associate it with time travel (did the girl come from a different time than everyone else, for example)?

At the time you read it, do you have any sense of whether it was a new book or an older one?

Holly, that book certainly sounds like what I described and remember! I don't know for sure though, so when I get my hands on a copy I'll update!

The fact that she was a druid is probably the one clear detail that I remember >.< I think she was part of a tribe of druids. I can't recall if the girl came from a different time than everyone around her, just that she had the ability to time travel somehow. At the time I read it, it seemed like it had been published within the past 10-15 years.

Great clarifying questions, Michele! Thanks for your help :)

Holly (hollylovesbooks) | 759 comments Here are a few more books involving druids & time travel, but I think they all feature MCs who come from the present and go to the past, so they may not be it.

The Sword of Culann
The Singing Stone
The Druid's Tune

Krystal (00krystal) | 132 comments anything by Juliet Marillier? She has a lot of druid themes and characters throughout her books.

It looks like her publications are too recent, but thanks for the suggestion!

Finally got a copy of the book. I haven't read it, but it seems to be what I've been looking for! Great sleuthing Holly, and thanks everyone for helping! :)
