To each her own, I guess."
"To each her own, I guess". Exactly so. We are all individuals unique in our likes and dislikes and it is each person's right and privilege to express their opinion whether it is for or against the popular opinion. No one should take umbrage if their opinions are not matched by everyone.
If it makes you feel better, I didn't dislike the story completely. This is my Goodreads review.

I just really enjoyed this book and its one of the few this year lol. I feel like sad almost when other people don't because it doesn't make them that happy.
What was your book of the year ? Maybe I'll find a new one to love. :)

I have enjoyed many books newly released this year. They didn't all make me happy but I enjoyed their stories. I can't think of one that outshines the others. That may change when I read Jim Butcher's 1'st Steampunk book, Aeronaut's Windlass. Based on the pre-released chapters, I think it will be a very enjoyable read.
There is a book I will recommend that you might enjoy and which will be available in December. I read it in beta and it made me "happy". It is The Death of Dulgath by Michael Sullivan. Even though it is #3 in his Riyria Chronicles series, it can be read as a stand alone.

I read a lot of books that I enjoy for one reason or another, not just the ones that make me "happy." But there are some that just strike a chord, and this was one. I doubt it would appeal to fans of high fantasy or sweeping epics, but it was a fun little story.
I also read When She Woke this year, which was very well-written and teemed with commentary on social issues and political values, and it did not make me "happy." But I did like it very much, and would recommend all women read it. (All men, too, if we could convince them; but alas, I doubt they would condone it.)

For the first part of the book we have Agnieshka hating him and thinking he´s sucking her soul or something like that, so she sees him as abusive. Before that, there is a part when he thinks she is a spy and he behaves quite violent. Then it changes. He is still rude, but he is not presented as a monster any more.
It isn´t romantic, but it´s not violence disguised as romance either like 50 shades...

Book to Live Stage ... War Horse ... Michael Morporgo ... Smashing Success
Reading a book lets you paint the back drops ... Some book adaptions come close to your vision ... and some fall way short.
Book Adaptions that fell short for me:
1.) Memoirs of an Invisibleman By H.F. White
2.) Inkheart By Cornelia Funke
3.) Child 44 By Tom Smith
I hope that who ever writes the adaption for Uprooted by Naomi Novik does justice to the story.
There is hope because The Chronicles of Narnia the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis was nicely done.

I get that, but The Martian was alright

He'd be good. I might go for someone born in the 60s rather than 80s though... Ben Bratt?

I'm not sure how this will work. They won't do Alosha justice, no one will be how you pictured them because the producers will be more interested in seeing this movie succeed, so they'll hire actors that they think will fill the seats.

I saw she has a new book Spinning Silver, any good?
Also, loved Aeronaut's Windlass! I wish the second one would come out already!

This will be an interesting project to take on, hopefully they let the author have a good amount of input (we've seen what can happen when they're sidelined)

I agree I guess. No need to ruin this

..."
How does it ruin it? The book will always be fabulous. If the movie sucks, it doesn’t ruin the book.

It's not an easy thing to explain but the images I have in my mind can easily be messed with. As an example, I was reading book 3 of The Darkest Minds when the movie trailer came out. The awful casting choices they made really messed with pictures I had of the characters in my head while I was reading it. that put me on tilt. I try stay away from the movies if I can.

However, if they do not get my boy Dragon right hell will be risen.
