Have a week where you read just the FIRST and LAST book of your favorite series.

It feels weird making a suggestion when I created the thread but here goes:
A book about mental illness (substance abuse, alzheimer's, autism, bipolar, etc.)

Narma: are you able to pick your favorite suggestion from your list? We're trying to keep it to one suggestion per user :)
And 20! It's closed.
As it went really fast, I think for the next we'll add a rule like "don't submit a week in the first 2 days, if you submitted the last time".
Narma: one suggestion only please, edit your post ;)

I think we'll use the suggestion the same way as "a trilogy", which was one topic in the Popsug and not 3. Many people have problems to be on tracks, so reading 2 books for the same week will be difficult.
Hey Mariah, there are single people out there :p

Sorry all. Got a little carried away with the suggestions. Alright updated.

Yeah, I think any challenge topics that requires you to have a specific person in your life (ie. mother, father, partner, sibling, grandparent, best friend) need to be scrapped. There's a difference between narrow topics with regards to the books themselves & narrow topics that involve someone's actual life, if that makes any sense?

I also think we should keep some of the topics from this year (Memoir, nonfiction, book published this year, etc.).

I second this one!or a book with your favorite opening line

For everyone posting suggestions after to first 20 - don't forget to pay attention and post them in a future suggestion thread! There are some good suggestions in there!
Thanks to the mods/other people taking the time to set this all up!
this is a great idea, to let the readers have input into what they want to read. I love it!

Sorry. I wasn't trying to leave people out or not think of certain groups. My bad.

The 2016 Reading Challenge will continue the concept of this year's challenge, with 52 weekly topics. Users then choose a book fitting each topic in order to complete the challenge.
How it will work:
The topics for the 2016 RC list will be determined through 13 mini-polls. Each user will vote for their favorite 4 topics in each mini-poll, which will then add up to the 52 topics (13 polls x 4 topics/poll=52 weekly topics). Suggestions for each poll will be open for one week (or until 20 suggestions are received) and then opened up for voting for one week. This timeframe allows for a completed list at the beginning of December and, for each month, we'll try to have one category with a short book, so it will be easier to catch-up.
First poll:
Suggestions: Closed!
Voting: June 14-June 20
Rules:
- One suggestion per poll per user
- Suggestions close June 13 or after 20 total suggestions, whichever comes first
- 4 votes per poll per user
**Disclaimer: Rules and details were the consensus of the users in the 2016 discussions. There were previously over 100 suggestions, a count that would be very unmanageable for voters and survey creators.
