Suggestions for the first mini-poll are closed. Everyone was extremely fast in getting the 20 suggestions. Don't worry, another mini-poll will begin June 21!

The 2016 Reading Challenge will continue the concept of this year's challenge, with 52 weekly topics. Users then choose a book fitting each topic in order to complete the challenge.

How it will work:
The topics for the 2016 RC list will be determined through 13 mini-polls. Each user will vote for their favorite 4 topics in each mini-poll, which will then add up to the 52 topics (13 polls x 4 topics/poll=52 weekly topics). Suggestions for each poll will be open for one week (or until 20 suggestions are received) and then opened up for voting for one week. This timeframe allows for a completed list at the beginning of December and, for each month, we'll try to have one category with a short book, so it will be easier to catch-up.

First poll:
Suggestions: Closed!
Voting: June 14-June 20

Rules:
- One suggestion per poll per user
- Suggestions close June 13 or after 20 total suggestions, whichever comes first
- 4 votes per poll per user

**Disclaimer: Rules and details were the consensus of the users in the 2016 discussions. There were previously over 100 suggestions, a count that would be very unmanageable for voters and survey creators.

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) As my first suggestion:

Have a week where you read just the FIRST and LAST book of your favorite series.

message 3: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (darcyi) | 1 comments How about a "Reader's Choice" category for something that wouldn't fit into the others? I'm having a hard time fitting some of the books I want to read into the categories since I've used up my favorites so far!!

message 4: by Amy (last edited Jun 07, 2015 10:19AM) (new)

Amy Tucker (aldtucker) | 91 comments This is very timely, because I was just thinking about next year this morning. I was also thinking about having already read 27 books for this year's challenge, and wondering how many books I will get to read after I finish each of these categories before I start again!

And 20! It's closed.
As it went really fast, I think for the next we'll add a rule like "don't submit a week in the first 2 days, if you submitted the last time".

Narma: one suggestion only please, edit your post ;)

I think we'll use the suggestion the same way as "a trilogy", which was one topic in the Popsug and not 3. Many people have problems to be on tracks, so reading 2 books for the same week will be difficult.

Sorry all. Got a little carried away with the suggestions. Alright updated.

Yeah, I think any challenge topics that requires you to have a specific person in your life (ie. mother, father, partner, sibling, grandparent, best friend) need to be scrapped. There's a difference between narrow topics with regards to the books themselves & narrow topics that involve someone's actual life, if that makes any sense?

message 32: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Norman (hannahnorman) | 49 comments These are some great suggestions!!!

I also think we should keep some of the topics from this year (Memoir, nonfiction, book published this year, etc.).

message 33: by Heather (last edited Jun 08, 2015 06:22AM) (new)

Heather Godwin (hpgodwin) | 84 comments Manda wrote: "A book with a "great opening line"."

I second this one!or a book with your favorite opening line

message 34: by Fatima (new)

Fatima Sultan | 1 comments My suggestion is that you read a book that really pushes your comfort zone or it goes against the grain. To read a genre that you haven't read before, purely for exploration purposes.

Lalo (laliux) | 1 comments A book about war.

message 36: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Brown (theglamreader) A book about royalty.
A fiction book written by a celebrity

message 37: by Peter (new)

Peter Some great suggestions here! Looking forward to next year's list being user/reader created. Can't wait to see what topics the group decides on.

For everyone posting suggestions after to first 20 - don't forget to pay attention and post them in a future suggestion thread! There are some good suggestions in there!

Thanks to the mods/other people taking the time to set this all up!

Biblio Curious (bibliocurious) 100% Random: blindly choose from your bookshelf/store/library/list

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

this is a great idea, to let the readers have input into what they want to read. I love it!

message 40: by Empressa (new)

Empressa (sempressfi) | 7 comments Where is the poll at?

message 41: by Maple (new)

Maple (maplerie) | 307 comments Voting starts on the 14.

message 42: by Bana AZ (new)

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 414 comments Can the poll be sooner? I think the longer the poll is up, the better because not all members are online everyday. This would give them more time to see that they should actually vote.

message 43: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) In the first post of this topic, it is written that the poll will be open from the 14th til the 20th of June, I'm sure that leaves plenty of time for everyone to enter.

Sorry. I wasn't trying to leave people out or not think of certain groups. My bad.
