Ella It is said that Emily Brontë may have based Wuthering Heights on the story of her grandfather - when looking on this website (http://www.wuthering-heights.co.uk/in...) and reading 'The Story of Hugh Brunty', the similarities between it and Wuthering Heights are unbelievable. I really think she may have drawn inspiration from this.

Kristine Wow. This information is invaluable to the back-story of the book.
(Especially the story of Welsh and Hugh Brunty.)
I'm not surprised if she drew from this. It's very interesting.

Ella Cemre, I totally agree with you about Branwell - Hindley essentially drank himself into oblivion, and we witnessed his degradation. Branwell Brontë did the same, and there are more similarities between these two than there are between Branwell and the character of Heathcliff.

Carole Hunt I've just read a book called 'Daphne' by Justine Picardie about Daphne du Maurier and her interest in Bramwell Bronte: very interesting and worth a read
