Thimira | 3 comments What I suggest is that we should abolish taking a box set of books as one book. For example let's take Harry Potter Series. You read all the books and if you put them as one box set on the overall your total books read get just 1 instead of 7. If we read such a set I think we should add those individual books one by one as read. This is not big deal but I like adding individual books in a set other than taking one set as one book. If we can abolish these box sets as entities on goodreads we can move on to think of 2 in 1 etc books as well. I hope you understand what I say

lethe | 16361 comments I know what you mean, but some books are only available as a set and cannot be bought separately. They may share the same ISBN.

That said, people use GR differently. A lot of people want to catalogue the exact edition they own, whether or not they've read it or in what format. Some people use the omnibus editions to review the series as a whole, as opposed to their individual per book reviews on the books themselves.

The great thing about GR is you get to pick how to use it. If you want to add all 7 Harry Potter books individually, then do that, nobody will mind even if you actually read them in an omnibus.
