It has come to my attention this evening, that Amazon is deleting reviews. A fellow indie author lost all her reviews. I lost 3 of 17. Didn't get an explanation. Anyone know what is going on?

Can you be linked in any way to the reviewer? Were gift cards or free copies given away and not disclosed? If not, just assume that the reviewer violated the terms of service somewhere and likely all of their reviews were deleted.
Don't know. I can't figure out which reviews were deleted. I didn't think I'd ever need a reason to keep track. I may have to now. I have given away several copies but some are still there, I know for sure. I only personally know 2 of the reviewers and they are still there. On my last book, I know of at least 11 reviews that didn't make it because Amazon deemed them friends or family--not sure how they knew.
my friend who lost all her reviews lost mine too. I don't know her personally, only from Goodreads and FB. I bought her book, read it and reviewed it. All legit, but it's gone.
I've only seen cases where the review failed to post or was pulled because the reviewer was linked to the author's Amazon account through gifts or purchases. A friend read one of our books and tried to post a review, but since I'd used my Amazon account to send her a gift years ago (she was still in my address list), the review was rejected (which was fine). We did lose one review. It was 3 or 4 star (can’t recall) but the reviewer made a personal comment about my co-author in it. I’ve assumed the reviewer deleted it, or perhaps it was reported and removed. (We didn’t report it.)
I did have a review rejected because I stated that while I received a free copy of a book, the author did not ask for review, I'd decided to buy the book anyway and review it. I wrote Amazon asking if this was a violation, given that I was acting entirely on my own. Amazon wrote back that they'd made a mistake and allowed my review to post. (Last I checked, it was still there.)
I've never heard of all reviews being purged outside of re-publishing with a new ASIN. Has anyone contacted Amazon about this?
