I agree. I'm SO old that I actually saw it when it first came out in 1959 and I SCREAMED at the shower scene. That movie FREAKED ME OUT!! I was only 9 years old and saw it with my mom and one of her friends. I seriously doubt Mom had any idea it would be so scary. I'm not sure it would scare anyone today if they saw it for the first time. The ending is what go to me. I'm curious to see if the end of the book is the same as the movie. I saw that 46 years ago and I STILL remember the shower scene and the very last scene. LOL

Norman's mother is (view spoiler)[SICKER that I remembered! Actually, I don't remember her except that VERY last scene in the movie. LOL She seems to say and do whatever she can to keep him under her thumb. (hide spoiler)]

I was laughing when his mother said he had said some (view spoiler)[ disgusting things to him but she was talking about psychology. But HE was trying to explain the Oedipus Complex. LOL OKAYYYY not a good idea, Norman! (hide spoiler)]

Mary (view spoiler)[wouldn't have found herself where she is if she hadn't stolen all those notes! How is it that Norman was right there when she was lost. I'd be freaked out just at being lost in the dark and if a man opened my door...I'm dying of a heart attack!! LOL (hide spoiler)]

Oh my goodness! Norman (view spoiler)[was SCARY when he went off about his mother being crazy! Now that I'm reading this, I am starting to remember more about his mother. The shower scene was freaky too! Imagine taking a shower and the curtains are pulled back and you some some psycho with a butcher knife! LOL I'd drop dead of a heart attack before he cut off my head! (hide spoiler)]

Norman is (view spoiler)[ a psycho! Oh my gosh! The extent to which he went to cover up the murder AND he had a peep hole. That is why I don't like (especially) cheap off the wall hotels. I don't remember all that's in this book being in the movie, but maybe it was. I can't see it for 1959. He dismembered Mary and drove her to a swampy place? Did that happen in the movie? This is hard to put down. (hide spoiler)]

It's so hard to focus reading since we are leaving for vacation in two days! I have so much to do in my house and packing, etc. But I'm reading! LOL

I can't believe that Sam (view spoiler)[mistook Lila for Mary. WHAT? LOL Who could be in love or engaged to someone and not hear from them in WEEKS and not look in to it. Then to have the gall to jump on Lila for not letting him know Mary was missing. Not much of a good guy. (hide spoiler)]

I just thought that interview was do well-done. I could picture Norman squirming and thinking, "oh crap! Think!" Lol
