In my freshman year of high school, my World Cultures teacher left on baby leave before the unit on Asia. Our sub went to Japan for 6 months, so when we got to that part of the unit, she taught us a new word in Japanese every day, then had a presentation, bringing in Pocky and seaweed and a sumo wrestling magazine and told us what it was like there. I think that's what really got me into the place.
