SOLVED. Children's (12ish), pub'd in 90s, about girl who time-travels to pilgrim,settler, something America. Has "plateau" or similar in title. [s]

I am thinking this book is for around twelve-year-old readers, probably targeted toward girls, published around the mid-90s. Not too thick but a novel... maybe around 200 pages? About a girl who is walking in a field or something like that, might have been staying with family on farm, walks onto plateau or similar formation, finds herself in an older period of American history.. I want to say 1800s.. I feel like they wear those white bonnets and aprons... That is about all I remember - not much plot-wise, just that there is a plateau, time travel, white bonnets, and I think the title has "plateau", "pilgrim", maybe "rock" in it.. and is only a couple words long. Thanks in advance!!!

Also - cover has said girl, looks about 12, standing on the plateau. Colours might be blues around border, sky... brownish-red plateau.

I feel like I have read this book and I thought I owned it but I don't think I have it anymore. The one suggestion I do have is "Time like a River" by Randy Perrin. The cover has a girl holding a horse near the river though, so this might not be it.


Do you remember if the girl who goes back in time ends up doing chores and going to school while she is staying a family in the period she time traveled to?

Okay, so in the book I mentioned above, the girl travels back in time to 1894, and she is from 1994 and it is set in California, her mother is sick and the doctor that can help her is from the time period she travels to. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm pretty sure that's not it unfortunately! I can't really remember what she does once she goes back in time, but I think it's possible that she lives with a family and maybe goes to school/does chores. I think she comes across someone just after crossing over and maybe has to help them?

I am also very sure that the title has something like plateau in it... maybe a synonym or similar to that. Also I feel like the author is female, though I can't say exactly why!
