Ask and ye shall receive.

I think you've been here long enough to see Holden fangirl before. As in ... every day. Hahaha.

Why not? EXPLAIN!

Thanks for pointing that out, Holden! I didn't notice, at first. *untill you pointed it out, shhh*
OKAY NO FIGHTING.
Taylor, drop it.
Holden, I'm sorry that what he is saying is irking you but this is not the place to start a big fight.

I suppose the term "fangirling" is a bit sexist, but I don't find it particularly offensive for a guy to say he is fangirling. Partly because "fanboying" sounds really dumb.
Am I the only one who thinks we should just delete all the commentary and let the guide be the only comment in this thread? We tend to get off-topic really fast.

Oh! This is actually pretty awesome.

That's fine... I'm just being extra careful. I didn't mean to overreact; I just don't want a debate here.

Because girls are awesome. Pffft.
I guess it's like how I always tell people to suck my d*** even though I don't have one. Only not really. But sort of. :P
EDIT: And by that I meant it's sort of like that, not that I sort of have a penis because I don't. Yeah. Just wanted to make that clear.

Due to popular demand contests shall remain as they are. I will be posting a new contest with a new prompt later today.
Yes. We now sort things by story/genre instead. So far I think it's been going a bit more smoothly.
Is there anywhere for memoir topics?
Or just a writing advice in general topic? I'm currently writing a memoir and would like to chat with other memoirists!
May I request this?

Yeah I don't think we have a specific folder for memoir but putting it in the non fiction folder would be fine. And maybe we should have a folder (or at least a topic) for memoir if other people are interested in that?
EDIT 2:58 PM (EST)
Good morning, WWAC. Welcome to the new and improved group.
As you can tell, the group has undergone somewhat of a facelift. Don’t worry, it’s still the same people, and still the same basic premise. We’re still a community of writers. We’ve just tried to make this sprawling group (we’re pushing 1400 members, if you can believe it) just a little more user-friendly.
A quick run-down of the major changes:
1.THE GENRE FOLDERS
Obviously, this is the biggest shift. We’ve changed the way you share your stories. (It’ll be better in the long run, promise.) Rather than having a thread for each member, and folders organizing them alphabetically, we’re going to have a thread for each story and a folder for each genre.
Each genre of fiction has its own folder. Find the one you think applies best to your story and make a thread for it, with a link to your story and a short description. If there's something specific you'd like people to comment on about your story, mention that as well.
Then, go ahead and browse other people's threads for a story to read. Leave reviews in the comments extolling their brilliance or what have you. Always remember, suggestions are most helpful when they come with respect.
We hope this will allow people to more easily find what they want to read, and help gain more exposure for new members without the name recognition from all our old friends.
2.POP CULTURE
This is the only folder we haven’t really had before, the contents of which were dispersed among other types of folders. This is basically a folder for anything related to writing, music, or media outside of our little group here. Posts about books not written by our members can be filed under here.
We made this in an attempt to separate general book discussions from discussions about the writing our members do, so that people can talk about whichever one they find more useful without confusion.
3.ARCHIVES
The archives can be found at the bottom of the group. People Archives is a separate folder, housing all of our old Writer’s Threads.
The general archives folder houses most of the threads that were active and running before this change. Some of them have stuck around in their individual folders.
We tried our very best to keep all the people who had posted at any time recently, or whose threads contained lengthy posts by still-active members, or ones we just felt contributed positively to the history of the group.
COMING SOON
Prompts!
There was some discussion a while back about relabeling our contests as prompts, to encourage more participation and to eliminate some of the competitive nature. After the currently running story contest ends, we’ll be starting once-monthly prompts in a folder of their own. There will still be “best of” recognition at the end of the month, but there won’t be a singular winner.
That’s about it. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’ve set up questions and suggestions thread for any concerns about this change not addressed above. Until then, au revoir and enjoy.
