Kaitlyn | 678 comments The Library is located on the third and fourth floors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. Overseen by Madam Irma Pince, the library is where students can go to peruse or borrow books to supplement their studies (or for personal enjoyment). The library closes at 8 pm.

message 2: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice had been in the Library for four hours. Four! That transfiguration essay was brutal but she finally found a book that had even a tiny bit of information on transfiguring parts of the body into metal or stone, information besides how to pronounce the enchantment. Searching had taken the blonde one and a half hours but the essay itself had taken the next two and a half hours along with all of her energy. Alice was completely and entirely drained. As soon as she wrote the final word of her two foot long paper, she collapsed on her favorite couch that she had been working at. So far seventh year was demolishing her.

message 3: by Melina (new)

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments Rose walked into the library, hoping her favorite couch would be free so that she could work on her History of Magic paper. Instead she found her friend Alice sprawled across the length of it. Rose walks over, picks up Alice's feet, and sits down, replacing Alice's feet on her lap.
"Rough day?" Rose asks

message 4: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice groggily sat up and rubbed her forehead, unknowingly spreading a blotch of ink across it. "You have no idea," Alice replied. "I'm dying, Rose, positively dying!" She dropped her head back on the pillow. "There's no way I can make it through this year," she said.

message 5: by Melina (new)

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments "I can only imagine. 5th year is hard enough as it is. How many N.E.W.T.S are you taking?" Rose asked. She wasn't sure whether or not she should tell Alice that she was writing a HoM paper on her father

message 6: by Kate (new)

Kate "Ten," she groaned. "Ten bloody N.E.W.T.S!" She pushed herself up again. "But enough about me. How's your studying going? I can only assume that's why you're in here? O.W.L.s are pretty tough too."

message 7: by Melina (new)

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments "Ten! Why on earth did you think ten N.E.W.T.S was a good idea?" Rose exclaimed "I'm here to work on my History of Magic paper. Professor Binns has us writing about someone involved in the Second Wizarding War. The best topics are arguably my parents and Uncle Harry, but writing about them is way to weird..." She trailed off

message 8: by Kate (new)

Kate "Who ever said anything about it being a good idea? I knew it would be difficult," Alice trailed off. She begwn gathering up her parchment and quill to make room for Rose's things. "Yeah I get it. I remember that assignment; it was really uncomfortable. I wrote about my godmother Luna. Who do you think you'll write about?"

message 9: by Melina (new)

Melina Stratigos | 59 comments "Well I was thinking about using your dad as my subject. But it still seems weird. The fact that our parents and their friends and family are in history books? It's pretty crazy, don't you think?"

message 10: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice smiled wryly. "Every day I have wondered what my life would be like if I had an ordinary family," she said. "Probably not as exciting but sometimes normalcy is so much better."

Daniella Dominus walked over to a nearby bookshelf, her cat weaving between her legs as she went, almost tripping her up. That cat stuck to her like glue! "You silly cat!" Daniella hissed, but she didn't really mean it. She loved Talon. She gently prized a book from the shelf. It said,'Wandmaking for Begginers' in spidery gold writing along the banded spine. It had clearly not been read in a long time, and Daniella brushed off a few cobwebs and coughed as dust flew off the ancient red cover. She walked along the old wooden floors, boards creaking as she went. Sitting down on a chair, Daniella flipped open the cover and began to read. Talon jumped nimbly onto her lap and Daniella stroked her striped silver fur while the welcoming smell of ink on paper wafted up to her nose. She immersed herself in the world of wandmaking.

message 12: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava looked up from the book she had been reading and laughed at the sight of a girl and a cat. She watched the girl as she walked, and the girl sat down near her. "Cats can't be in here," she reminded the girl, in a sweet tone. "Just thought you ought to know," she grinned at the girl. "I'm Ava. I'm a sixth year student in Hufflepuff. What about you?" she asked, looking at the brown haired girl.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

"Right, sorry, it's just that Talon always follows me in here anyway if I try to leave him behind." Daniella laughed, rolling her eyes. She set her book down and turned to face the girl next to her. "I'm Daniella by the way- 5th year Slytherin." She smiled. It was always good to make friends outside of her own house, despite what the others thought about Hufflepuff.

message 14: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava laughed. "Cats. They can be the oddest creatures," Ava tilted her head to the side, thinking. "Nice to meet you, Daniella," she said sincerely. "What are you reading?" she asked curiously.

((I think Slytherin/Hufflepuff friendships would be the most powerful friendship.))

message 15: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 17, 2015 06:17PM) (new)

(( :) yep )) "Wandmaking for Begginers." Daniella replied, showing Ava the cover. "I just wanted to find out a bit more about wand history... I actually find it incredibly interesting. At home I have a shelf of the library dedicated to the subject." She admitted, and glanced over at the book Ava was holding. "What are you in here for? Studying, I suppose?"

message 16: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "That's interesting. I've always been curious about the 'the wand chooses the wizard' thing," Ava admitted. She quickly slid the book into her bag. "Oh, er.. Nothing," she lied, blushing. Ava was reading about her guilty pleasure- Quidditch. She didn't like to show an interest for Quidditch, because the last time she did, she was challenged to a match. And she was a bit self conscious about her flying. Ava never did well under pressure.

message 17: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments ((Hufflepuffs and Slytherins both share the trait of being unconditionally loyal to their friends. The former (Hufflepuff) will stay up all night helping their friends study for an exam and the latter (Slytherin) will procure their friends a copy of the answers. XD))

message 18: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 17, 2015 06:31PM) (new)

Daniella smiled. Ava was obviously hiding something, but it clearly embarrassed her so she didn't ask any more questions. Instead she turned the conversation towards their respective houses. "So, what's it like being in Hufflepuff?" Daniella asked curiously, placing Talon gently on the floor, to which the cat responded with pitiful meows. "We don't usually talk about the other houses in Slytherin, except to insult them, but I think each one has it's strong points. It's not really fair to disregard any of the houses." She commented. Daniella looked at Ava for her reaction.

message 19: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments ((Hufflepuffs are known to have good friends in Slytherin. Hufflepuffs are some of the few who won't judge based on negative rumors. This means they're the most likely to approach Slytherins and help them when in need. This makes amazingly loyal friends between the houses. Mess with a Hufflepuff, and you'll likely find a Slytherin getting revenge for the more forgiving house.))

message 20: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava grinned. "Oh it's amazing. Some of us sometimes sneak to the kitchen in the middle of the night, and the house elves are willing to slip you a few snacks. the common room is bright and sunny, and very cozy. Everyone is friendly to each other, and everyone gets along amazingly." Ava nodded. "There are many things amazing about each house," she agreed. "I think Slytherins and Hufflepuffs are the most…" she said, looking for the word. "underestimated. Well, if they teamed together, you'd better watch out," she said with a mischievous grin.

message 21: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 18, 2015 06:09PM) (new)

"You're right about that." Daniella grinned. She would do anything for a friend, and knew that most Hufflepuffs were much the same. "Slytherin is nowhere near as social. Many of us are quite independent, although we do get up to some fun tricks now and then." She added, remembering the time when her and her friends had played a prank on a seventh year. They had paid for it though... "One thing we all love is Quidditch, though." Daniella admitted. "I do prefer watching to playing it, though. I'm not really the best at it myself, to be completely honest, although I do like playing casually with my friends. Do you play?" she asked politely. Finally a topic sure to please both of them. Practically every witch and wizard loved the game, and the following at Hogwarts was huge!

message 22: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Slytherin sounds fun. I always admire their pranks. They're very clever," Ava admitted. She laughed as Daniella talked about pranks, but then frowned when the topic of Quidditch came up. "Oh er.. I don't play," Ava lied, looking down. When she lies, she normally avoids eye contact. She's not very good at lying though, and tries her best not to. "I don't really like Quidditch," she lied again, avoiding Daniella's eyes. Ava loved Quidditch- it was her passion and her guilty pleasure. The only thing about it though, is Ava is very self conscious about playing it with others or even admitting she plays. She always feels like she's going to vomit when she plays in front of someone, or even if she talks about playing. But Ava was truly amazing at it. She just needed a like confidence boost by a friend, maybe.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

((Erm this is where it gets hard... should I carry on the conversation about quidditch or move on???))

message 24: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments ((You could do whichever you wish. Or you could call her out on her lie because I think a true Slytherin would easily be able to spot a horrible liar like Ava. XD))

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

"Really?" Daniella smiled. She knew Ava was trying to hide it, but it was rather obvious to her that she wasn't being entirely honest. "I can tell what you actually think, you know. You shouldn't be afraid of people knowing you like playing quidditch. Just be yourself, Ava. No one will judge you for doing what feels right." She told Ava gently. "Even if you're not that good at playing, no one will mind. Hey, I'm not the best, but I still play." Daniella laughed.

message 26: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava looked at the ground, tracing a pattern with her eyes. "It's not that.. it's just when people know I enjoy Quidditch, they ask me to play with them. And then the rest goes downhill.." she admitted, picking at her fingernails. She did it often when she was nervous. Ava knew she was decent, but she always hurled when she had to play. Or she passed out. Both of them weren't pleasant though, so she avoided the conversation of Quidditch entirely.

message 27: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 22, 2015 03:56PM) (new)

Daniella watched Ava. Clearly this was an issue for her, and she hoped she could help. "Maybe if you have a go with a few people for a start, just playing casually, it would help." She suggested. Ava might find it easier to relax if she just played with a small group of people she knew at first, then build up to playing bigger games. "We could arrange a game with some of your friends if you like. I'd love to help you, if you want it." Daniella said. Hopefully she would take the offer. It was always more relaxing to play in a fun environment than competitive, and Daniella knew some easy charm to help calm the nerves.

message 28: by Kaitlyn (last edited Jun 22, 2015 03:59PM) (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Well I don't- I don't know who I would ask. Most of my friends would be surprised.." Ava trailed off. She had been lying for quite some time about Quidditch. Ava blushed, embarrassed. It would be horrifying to play with her friends. "Strangers would honestly be better," she admitted, looking at Daniella.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

"If it makes you feel more comfortable..." Daniella agreed. This was obviously the first time Ava had confessed to anyone at Hogwarts about her secret hobby. "Is that a yes?" She grinned, trying to lighten the mood.

message 30: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Um…" Ava said nervously. "Okay," she agreed. "But no laughing!" she told Daniella. "When?" she asked, wanting to prolong it for as long as possible.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

"Any time, really." Daniella decided. "When is best for you?"

message 32: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Er.. I'm not really busy, so anytime I don't have lessons.." Ava told Daniella. "What position are you when you play?" Ava asked curiously.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

"Okay. Well, how about in the afternoon, a few hours after lessons have finished for the day?" Daniella mused. "I play chaser, by the way. What about you?" Daniella supposed Ava might play seeker, although she could be wrong. She had surprised Daniella more than once already.

message 34: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "O-okay, sure," she said awkwardly. Ava had hoped it wouldn't be so soon. "That's cool. You're right though, I do play Seeker," Ava said with a small smile.

message 35: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 23, 2015 05:53PM) (new)

"Cool," Daniella smiled. She was impressed that Ava wasn't trying to postpone the game for later. She didn't know if she would have been so brave. Daniella picked up her book. "Well, I guess I'll see you later, Ava," she said, getting up from the chair reluctantly. It had been nice talking to her, and hopefully when they played quidditch Daniella could get to know her a bit better. She gave a little wave in Ava's direction and then headed off to get her book issued. Talon padded along behind her, grateful to have Daniella's undivided attention again.

message 36: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Okay. Um.. see you around then, Daniella," she waved.

((Want to move this to the Quidditch Pitch?))

message 37: by LJF (new)

LJF | 160 comments Look at the time, thought Nan. It was 7:30, and she'd promised to help one of the first years study for their Transfiguration quiz. It was too late for her to still be sitting in the library waiting for Lily. If Lily was coming, she'd have to do it soon. Nan picked out a couple of Transfiguration books, as well as a particularly interesting history book about the history of Animagi. She brought them to be checked out, and was about to leave, when...

message 38: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments Lily strided into the Library looking for her friend Nan. The Library wasn't really her favorite spot but whatever.
What time WAS it? 7:36? Not bad Lils not bad. Lily smirked at her thoughts and actually began searching for Nan

message 39: by LJF (new)

LJF | 160 comments She noticed Lily. Please don't have brought Ruby. Pretty please? Nan didn't hate Ruby, per se. In fact, they had been friends at first. But Ruby had gotten upset about one too many rude things she'd said, and they just didn't click right. Whatever.
She walked over to Lily. "Hi," she said, "Did anyone come with you?"

message 40: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments "No?" Lily drawled out confused as this threw her off. "Anyways. What's up?"
Lily zoned out thinking about how many episodes of Doctor Who she was missing.
Her Dad would probably spoil it for her.
'Why has everyone been so distant lately?
I wonder if they have muggle books here...'
Lily snapped out of her thoughts in time to see a pair of Slytherins walking by causing her to zone out again.
'What's it like-'

message 41: by LJF (new)

LJF | 160 comments "Are you okay? What are you looking at?"

message 42: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments "Huh? Oh nothing, don't worry about it Nan" Lily dismissed her dreaming smile faltering.

message 43: by LJF (last edited Aug 10, 2015 09:27AM) (new)

LJF | 160 comments "Do you like, like one of those guys?" If it was so obvious that even Nan, who was terrible at reading social ques, could pick it up, then everyone would figure it out. She wondered how long it had been going on. "You're acting really weird, and don't think you can blow me off."

message 44: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments "No, I don't like one of those guys. And if you hadn't noticed, I always act strange. I'm missing my Muggle Telly." Lily said normally paced but her heart was pounding at the fact someone was catching on. Oh the horror if someone really knew what she desired.

message 45: by LJF (new)

LJF | 160 comments "First of all, I told you not to blow me off," said Nan, "Second of all, if even I can tell, you better bet that everyone else can, third of all, I won't say a word to anyone, fourth of all, why does it matter if other people know, and fifth of all, spill."

message 46: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments "First of all, your sequencing is out of whack. And yes you did tell me not to blow you off, but I only half way blew you off. You have to swear not to tell anyone. If you do, I'll rip your boobs off and attached then to the back of your neck" Lily threatened enforcing the idea that this was in fact Serious.

message 47: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments "And if others know, I will get teased for it"

message 48: by LJF (new)

LJF | 160 comments "No, I won't talk, but if you don't want anyone to know, I'd keep it down." She pointed tiled her head to Madame Pince, who was frowning at them. "Now, let's go to sit by the lake, and you can tell me all about it."
She knew better than to tell Lily to watch the vulgarities that were coming out of her mouth. She just hoped Lily's confession wouldn't contain to many curse words.
((See you at the Black Lake))

message 49: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments ((Okay!!))

message 50: by Ashton (new)

Ashton Potter | 108 comments Lily sat reading her favourite book, Quidditch Through The Ages. She liked the stories of how modern day Quidditch came to be. Lily got distracted when a question came to her.
"How many cousins do I have?" Because she doesn't know and that would be a nightmare trying to buy gifts for a good percentage of the school.
