Mekki | 18 comments The description of this book sound very close to the movie Gattaca

Random (rand0m1s) | 1282 comments Read it last month. My second time reading and I think I even enjoyed it more the second time around.

I read it years ago and loved it, though I don't remember much about it aside from the basics. I may try and re-read this month.

It's actually not much like Gattaca at all :)

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) I read it last month and I loved it! Heartwarming.

Suzanne | 98 comments I got it and have read the first couple of chapters. I really like it so far!

Nick (doily) | 1014 comments The reviewers pretty much think of this as a wonderful book. I really liked it when I approached it a few years ago. I think I will give it another go round.

Alexa (AlexaNC) | 64 comments I just started it, just finished Chapter 2. I had zero idea what this book was about ahead of time - and I'm not at all sure I would have picked it up if someone had given me a quick summary of what I've seen so far (I was in the mood for some escapism, not social commentary, sorry), but this is so much more compelling than any summary would have let me know. It's just great storytelling!

Alexa (AlexaNC) | 64 comments I'm enjoying the story, yet I'm finding some of the characters rather ... lacking in nuance?

Random (rand0m1s) | 1282 comments Part of that could be point of view. Lou either doesn't see or comprehend a lot of personal nuance.

My husband is on the spectrum. While it is rather mild for him (most of his issues involve the sensation of touch), he still has problems in social situations, especially with reading the body language of others. I have to remind myself to be very direct when expressing myself or when I want something from him.

Maggie K | 298 comments I want to read this so badddd.... but I am so behind......

Alexa (AlexaNC) | 64 comments No, I'm finding the lack of nuance not so much from Lou's point of view (but maybe that's part of it) - but in the parts where we temporarily get someone else's point of view. Sort of as if all the other characters fall into the "good guys" camp or the "bad guys" camp. I think she's really good at showing us when Lou is not quite aware of body language and stuff, phrases like: she looked at me in a way that I thought was supposed to mean something, but I didn't know what it meant.
