Kriste, could it be Wars of the Heart by Elizabeth Villars? It is about 3 different women, from 3 different walks of live. Each chapter is about that particular woman. (eventually their lives intersect.)
The first is about a young girl who is in love with her boyfriend, Tom, I think they live in NY or NJ. She is a poor Polish girl and her boyfriend is well off and joins the war right after Pearl Harbor is bombed. She discovers she is pregnant right after he leaves for California. Her father kicks her out and she travels out to Cali to her boyfriend. SHe loses the baby on her train or bus ride out to California.
The second woman is a married Jewish woman, whose husband later joins the Army after his brother in law joins the Navy. They have a young son. Eventually she starts volunteering at a hospital and has an affair with another solider and gets pregnant.
The third woman is from a middle class family. All her brothers join up and she and her mother do the red cross rolling bandages, growing a victory garden. Later she becomes a reporter and war time journalist.
The first young girl gets discovered at the ammo plant she works at and becomes a movie star. Her life kind of resembles that of Marilyn Monroe. She gets discovered because the foreman of the plant thought her sweaters were too tight and suspends her, and the press comes out to photograph when she and some of the women go on strike because of it.
All three women end up living together and leaning on each other to get through the war.
I remember the cover had a pinup style girl in a blue dress on it. And 2 other women.
