As I am reading a book if I want to share my process on goodreads, I click share and it gets an error message. When I tap and hold a book the menu will pop-up and ask me if I want to search the book, view bookmarks, add to goodreads shelf, etc - When I click add to goodreads shelf I get a "Request Failed" message. What can I do to fix this?

I had a problem similar to that. I was getting the message on my Windows machine but when I went to my Mac, it worked. It might be the Goodreads app on your Kindle thats wonky. Have you tried deleting and then reinstalling Goodreads?
Then this is an Amazon issue; I thought you were using the app on another platform like an Android or Apple device (other than Kindle.) Their servers could be acting up.
