Looking for the title of a book I read in middle school, mid-to late 70s. The main character is a girl who lives in NYC and at the end, finds out her real mother is her aunt, a free-spirited artist. She was adopted because her birth mom locked her in at Grant's tomb when she was a toddler, and her hands are scarred from trying to get out. Longshot, I know!
