DaShannon | 12 comments Longbourn by Jo Baker For fans of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Downton Abbey, this novel tells the story of the 'family' down below who made life possible for the Bennet household. I loved it and couldn't wait to sit down with it each day. I loved the P&P references.

Kimberlee Chowning | 9 comments The Mailboy by foreversmilin

I've been reading a few books off of Wattpad lately and there's quite a few I've read lately. First I'll share this one: Mailboy by foreversmilin. This is yet another interesting romance and this happens to be only the first book in the series. Zoey Hunter, high-standard teen who has lived in her small town of Silvercrest and delivered mail with Mr.Walters since she was a toddler. That is until Nico Forrest, British delinquent teen, shows up and has to do community service. Mr. Walters is soon to retire and Nico gets to fill in and be Zoey's mail partner for the remainder of the summer. They were forced to bond, but they never thought they end up falling for one another.

It's left me wanting to finish the series and maybe possibly finding a way to murder two fictional characters. If your up for a romance that makes you want to strangle the characters or possibly just throw them in a room and lock them up so they'll get along, then take a peek! I personally have to add this to my favorites list. It's well written and has perfect tension to flow with the plot line.

Sydney Wallace | 5 comments The third book I have read this summer is Branded by Keary Taylor. Its about Jessica a young women who has been tortured with nightmares since she could remember. These nightmares are about judgment passed onto people who have died, people being branded by angels. Because of this all her family and friends think she is crazy and don't believe her wild stories about her nightmares. Jessica now truly thinking she is a freak, hides herself away from the real world. But when two men enter her life, everything changes, including the nightmares which have always been the same. Jessica is stuck between two different men, and her life begins to fall apart. Soon Jessica fears come true as the real world and her nightmare world meet at last. This book takes a whole new view on angels and demons and does a wonderful job in doing so. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Cheyenne Brown | 6 comments My third book was The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. I knew when I read the first book and then watched the movie I would need to find out what happens. This book had many ups and downs and twist and turns but overall I can't wait to read the rest of them and finally put my mind to rest. If you haven't read this series yet I highly suggest it to the people who like science fiction and adventure tied into one.

Sarah Wallace | 6 comments The third book that I read was Captive by Leigh Talbert Moore. Its about a girl named Prentiss Puckett who is about to start a new life. With only two weeks away till graduation Prentiss is trying to get the job of her dreams. However everything changes one day when she gets kidnapped on the way to work. When she wakes up she is at a strange camp where they demand everybody to work all day. Its up to Prentiss to figure out where they are and how to escape. Overall I liked the book as it was different and it always kept you wondering. Its like you were in the book to trying to figure out how what was happening. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a little bit of mystery.

Mandy Gerlach | 6 comments My third book was a book filled with a multitude of short stories; it is called Grimm Fairytales. The book is very old and it was my moms when she was a kid. The Fairytales are very gruesome and they are meant to scare children in order to teach them lessons. The original Cinderella for example includes one step sister cutting one of her toes off, and the other cutting her heel off in order to fit into the shoe. It ends with each of them also getting eyes pecked out by birds due to their "wickedness and falsehood".

I have been reading Terri Blackstock's Twisted Innocence for a while now...... I took a break midway through the book (when I got a little bored of it) to do some planning and researching for the 2015-2016 school year. I also read many short stories, many of which I will be using in class with you all this year:)
It is about a girl named Holly who was headed down the wrong path when an unexpected pregnancy made her realize she needed to straighten up. Through a chance encounter with a couple drug addicts mugging her, she meets the father of her baby again and gets caught up in a murder scheme. The love for her baby and newfound morality help her deal and make the right decisions throughout the mess she is in. Lots of action and quick-paced, but I didn't care for the writing. In addition, many of the events in his book seemed a little corny and unrealistic. I had to make myself sit down and finish the book early this morning; I do admit, I did get into the little love story woven in and all the suspense packed in towards the end.

Terra Wichterman | 4 comments The third book I've read this summer is Paper Towns by John Green. I found this book to be exceptional. I can now say I have read all of John Green's books, and there is not one I didn't enjoy. Basically this book is about two unlikely people coming together and a series of events happen. But, when Margo goes missing, it's up to Quentin to find her before it's too late. I highly recommend this book. I couldn't put it down the whole time I was reading it, and it made me want to skip to the end just to find out what happens. If you're into books like this, I say it's worth your time.

Lily Croucher | 5 comments Today I finished my final book. I read Paper Towns by John Green. I read this book because, I loved The Fault In Our Stars. John Green is becoming one of my favorite authors. This book is about a boy named Quentin Jacobson, who is madly in love with the girl next door named Margo Roth Spiegelman. They were childhood best friends until they found a dead man while walking through the park. They break away from each other until one night she comes through his window only to disappear the very next day. Quentin then gathers up his friends Radar, Ben, and Margo's friend Lacy to skip their high school graduation and go get Margo. Along the way Quentin realizes that Margo is not the person he thought he knew. This book makes you create your own questions and I loved trying to figure them out while reading. I would highly recommend this book to others.

Audrey Heitzman | 5 comments Micro by Michael Crichton Micro by Michael Crichton: I was a bit cautious starting out reading this book, for the reason that I wasn't sure how Richard Preston would affect Crichton's work. But as I got to reading it, I was dumbfounded on how the technique and style just would keep pulling you back for more and more each time. It was written a lot like Jurassic Park which was actually nice. He made it seem real, which was chilling. And to compare it to Jurassic Park, these grad students know hardly anything about this, this device. They are dumbfounded and they quickly have to go out of their knowledge and comfort zone to confront this bug and to be able to figure out how to outsmart it and how to ultimately survive. This was a definite 10/10. Warning: if you are wary with blood and the description of someones death, do not read this book.

Rebekah Fordyce | 3 comments My third book was Always Emily by Michaela MacColl. I really did enjoy this book. This is a Historical Fiction/Mystery book. Sometimes it's hard for me to stay interested on this genre, but this book was different. It really kept me focused the entire time and I liked that. I LOVE how MacColl paid attention to small details on the Brontë sisters, and it's a very good way to introduce the Brontë family. I love that the author based this on a real family. I would rate this book a 7/10.

Noah Armocida | 6 comments Darkness Before Dawn
Finally the last book in the Hazelwood High trilogy. Darkness Before Dawn is my third book of the summer for me by Sharon Draper. This finale book was written because of the large amount of letters and emails that Sharon Draper received that simply asked, "What happened to Keisha?". This book is about Keisha Andy's girlfriend. I can't summarize this book with out spoiling the wrest. But Keisha has moved on after her past boy friend, Andy, commits suicide. She finds a liking in the new track coach who is close in age and is the principles son. Although she comes into conflict with her past. Great ending to the story three book long story!

Makenzie Phillips | 4 comments An Abundance of Katherines
My third book was An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. It was slow, but led up to a good ending. Colin Singleton has never dated a girl who's name was not Katherine. Then when K-19 dumps him, he and his best friend Hassan set out on a road trip. They end up in Gutshot Tennessee, where they meet Lyndsey Lee Wells. As Colin tries to perfect his theorem, he and Hassan become more comfortable in the small town. Overall, I think the book was funny and had I good ending. I would recommend it to someone who is looking for an entertaining story.

Kiley Allen | 4 comments Ryan Hunter
The third book that I read, Ryan Hunter by Anna Katmore, is the second book in the Grover Beach Team series. It has the same story line as the first book but the difference is that it's told from Ryan Hunter's point of view instead of Liz's. I think this book is exceptionally good and definitely makes you look at the story line from a different prospective. If you have read the first book in this series then I definitely would recommend this book.

message 19: by Annie (new)

Annie Allen | 4 comments The third book I read this summer was The Wedding Song by Lucy Kevin. This is the third book in the Four Weddings and a Fiasco series. The plot line encompasses a DJ that works at a wedding venue. At a routine wedding job, Tyce is reintroduced to the girl he fell in love with years ago. The unfortunate part is that this time, she is engaged. The two characters must face the reality about making decisions about their relationship.

This book was very well written. I love the problem of the girl Tyce loves being engaged. Kevin could have made the book a lot better if she had used more mature vocabulary. She didn't do a very good job of moving the story along. I would give this book a 5/10.

Rebecca Elliott | 4 comments My Third book was Impulse by Ellen Hopkins. This book was definitely different in the fact of it had different point of views but worth the read if you can understand the different reasons why Tony, Vanessa, and Conner are all at this hospital.

Shyanne | 4 comments 90 Minutes in Heaven A True Story of Death & Life by Don Piper The third book I read was 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. This book was about a man who was in a car accident and died and went to heaven then came back. He describes the things that happened while he was there. I wouldn't recommend this book to a lot of people because it is religious but I loved it and would read it again.

Jordan Stroud | 3 comments The third book I read this summer was, Caught by the Sea, by Gary Paulsen. This book is about how he spent his life on boats, from the time he was a kid, to the time he was working for the navy. This book is an alright book. I would give it a 6 out of 10.

message 23: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Cottle | 4 comments my third book was The Nature of Jade by Deb Caletti. This book was about an 18 year old girl who suffered from anxiety attacks that could happen at any given moment. She enjoyed watching the elephants at the local zoo through a wireless camera that she could access from her laptop. Her life was completely normal until she sees a boy in a red jacket. You see how two complete strangers come together and help each other through each of their problems. It wasn't my favorite book though because of its slower pace.

Madison Curless | 4 comments The third book I read for the summer was called "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. This book was about a teenaged girl named Katniss who had taken her sisters part of the hunger games as tribute. Katniss is partnered up with the boy tribute named Peeta. The hunger games were where you had to fight for you life and be the last person alive so you win the hunger games. Throughout the games Peeta partners up with people from a richer district while Katniss is partnered up with a young girl named Rue because she reminded her of her sister. The rules are suddenly changed and a couple from the same district can now win together. Katniss went to find Peeta and she had to get him back to health. Soon they were the last ones still alive and the rules changed again to only one winner. Katniss nor Peeta wanted to kill each other so they were going to eat poisoned berries to kill themselves but they changed the rule again and allowed them both to win the hunger games as a team. I would recommend this book.

You'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time. This book is about a bunch of districts competing to live there life, two people are chosen to fight. Fight together or kill each other with no feelings. Will she win? Will she die? It's up to you to find out. Read and find out.

Sierra Smith | 4 comments My final book that I have read is Aflame written by Penelope Douglas. This book is the last in the series and was no where near as good as the rest. This book went completely back to Tate and Jared from the very first book of the series and talked about the characters separate from each other and how it went back to the relationship they had in the very first book. I had grew with the other characters and just didn't see how this one fit in. Everyone else had very good endings.. But Tatum and Jared did not. After reading this whole series I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves a love hate relationship.

Alexis Williams | 4 comments My final book I read this summer was, After by Anna Todd. She is an incredible author. This book is a four book series. I've only read the first but I hope to read the rest soon! But in this book, Tessa is starting her freshman year of college at Washington Central University. She's a good girl who is being pushed to do what she is doing now by her mother. But when she is still moving into her dorm, she runs into her roommates friend Hardin. Tessa and Hardin are polar opposites based on looks and personalities. But when Tessa gets a good look at him she sees how cute and different he is from what she's used to seeing back home. A hatred is soon sparked between the two. So when Tessa thinks she is done with seeing Hardin she soon realizes how close Hardin is with her roommate, Steph, causing him to always be in her dorm. But one night when the two are alone Hardin decides to kiss Tessa causing her to feel the passion in the kiss she's never felt before. After this encounter meant Tessa is falling deeper and deeper for Hardin, he soon tells her he isn't the one for her and disappears over and over in order to not face her. Nothing will stop Tessa from stopping Hardin from running away and getting to know the real him. Which keeps causing Tessa to fall for him each time he runs off. Even thought she has the perfect boyfriend back home, she keeps trying hard to finally stop Hardin from all the games he plays. Which causes Tessa and Hardin to realize that maybe this could be love?

Jalyna | 4 comments My third book I read was a book off of Wattpad. The books title is "My brothers best friend" Writen by @knightsrachel. This book was also a 2014 Wattpad winner. It all starts out with Emily, a girl who has just returned from London due to being at rehab for aneroxia. She comes back having to share the apartment with her brother Emmet. Upon arrival, she gets a surprise of her second roommate. Which I should add that she had no idea about, Parker, he's Emmets best friend. Parker and Emily argue and disagree with each other several times throughout the book, only until they began having feelings for each other. Parker has a younger brother,Lee which he has custody of due to his parents dieing In a car accident years ago. Parker and Lee go through several battles of custody, and medical problems, but Emily is there to support Parker every step. There was several occasions where things didn't work out but they stayed together hoping for the best. Out of all the troubles, Parker fell in love with Emily. To me this book shows how much one person can go through and you not know what's actually happening.

Sydnie Bradley | 4 comments Book 3- The Fault In Our Stars by John Green -
The main character is Hazel Grace Lancaster who is a 16 year old who is battling cancer. She goes to a church support group for cancer survivors and later meets a guy named Augustus Waters. Gus has a type of cancer that caused him to loose his leg and wear a prosthetic leg. Hazel shares with Augustus her favorite book An Imperial Affliction and he reads it and enjoys it. The two later fly to Amsterdam to meet the Author Peter Van Houten to provide the answers they need about the book. And I'm not going to say the ending because I don't want to spoil it,but it's a great book with romance so I would recommend it to all of you who would like to read a romance novel. Warning you may want to have tissues near by if you're one who cries over books.

Lyndsey Valentine | 6 comments The third book I read this summer was Everything On It by Shel Silverstein. Although this book isn't exactly for my age group, I love the silly poems and drawings. Each page is something completely different and it never sticks to a certain theme. I love going back and reading the poems I was read as a child. Somehow, Silverstein manages to appeal to adults and children alike with his writing. The only reason I didn't like it as much as the other books I've read this summer, is although I appreciate his writing style, it doesn't appeal to me emotionally. There was only one, perhaps two poems in this book that sparked an interest for me.

Dylan Jones | 5 comments Sharp Objects
The final book I read this summer was a novel that will go down for its weirdness. This Gillian Flynn is as messed up or even more messed up than Gone Girl. The original story is about the murders of Ann and Natalie. Then the novel takes its mind of its own and takes you on a scavenger hunt. The ending was very unpleaseing and distasteful. Somehow I would recomed this to someone who is able to read a mature book, that deals with themes not normally talked about in the real world.

Jordan Farler (Jordan_JF) | 4 comments The first book i read this summer was Insurgent from the Divergent book series. It wasn't as good as the first book in my opinion. Near the beginning of the book it was very slow paced as Tris and Four hid, but as the story progressed more action was involved so its pace picked up. Overall it wasn't that bad of a read.Insurgent

There were some parts that made me want to keep reading but the main reason I even finished this book was because I plan to finish the whole Giver series. I suppose some people would like this book but I'm just hanging on to find out how all the books tie together at the end. Overall this book was very boring. Gathering Blue
