What do you think of the concept behind the Bitterroot community? Was it plausible that it existed so long with the law enforcement community being unaware?

Melissa (melissasd) | 194 comments I like the concept of Bitterroot, but I don't see how they were able to keep it from law enforcement. We have Hope House in my area and law enforcement plays a big role in keeping the women there safe. Bitterroot didn't think they needed the laws help and that turned out to be their downfall.

I liked the concept, too, but really couldn't believe that law enforcement was so clueless about the organization. I think that was because of their sexist attitudes, especially the previous sheriff. It probably would have never occurred to him that women could orchestrate something like this.

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments I liked the concept but wondered if they had isolated themselves a bit too much. I know they have had troubling past but not all men are bad and I think it's important that abused women are able to build trust in the human race again. If it's done carefully then I think it can work.

Yes it is hard to believe that law enforcement was clueless.
