Also, props to you who chose Bella (of "Twilight") and Anastasia ( of "Fifty Shades") for your lists. I'd have included them, but what I've heard about those characters irritated me so much just on rumor I haven't brought myself to read the books! Listing characters from novels I haven't read felt like cheating. But I'm happy to see just about any passive, swooning, submissive female protagonist pitched into the deep end. Girls are inundated with enough negative imagery; they shouldn't have to fight off bad influences from literary heroines for whom they're expected to cheer!

I happened to include them both. Figured I would get some hate, but it had to be done.

It did, indeed! I noticed you included some other unsatisfactory female protagonists as well. Brava. I admit to being judgmental about heroines because when I was a girl, my parents scoured bookstores for stories featuring awesome female characters (and this before YA fiction really took off as a genre). So to this day when I encounter a book with some passive pansy in the lead role, I want to throttle her.
Hey, that gives me an idea for a future Top 5 topic: best role model heroines. Can you imagine girls' night out with Katniss Everdeen, Hermione Granger, Arya Stark, and Elizabeth Bennett? :-D

I didn't want to watch or read anyone else's until I did mine, so now I'm off to enjoy! (I had SO many technical difficulties getting this done. I think I recorded it about 30 different times. GRRR And I'm still not all THAT happy with it...)
