Oleander | 188 comments I thought Harry had kind of a film noir dectective vibe. Almost expected him to say "dames". I thought it was kinda cool.

hahaha I know exactly what you mean. I'm hoping the quality will get better as they go on.

I'm not sure what I was expecting but I didn't know it was about magic or that he was a wizard. I thought it I would find it hard to get in to as I don't usually read books like this.

I can see what you mean actually

Lauren (laurenjberman) Lol! I also had a problem with James Marsters heavy breathing. He sounded like he was sighing all the time.

Elishia | 2620 comments He sounded like he was fed up of reading

Oleander | 188 comments Elishia wrote: "He sounded like he was fed up of reading"

LOL I'm glad I read the book then

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Yes, some people have complained that Marsters' reading is too "wet."

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I'm almost done. Would you like me to do some wrap-up questions?

message 110: by ShoSho , Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Sure that'd be great

message 111: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I'll do it tomorrow. You all are caught up in Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward anyway, LOL!

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) I'm up to Chapter 18. Finally I have time for reading after the busy weeks :(

So far, I really like it. I like Harry, and even just a hint, I'm more into Harry-Murphy, rather than Harry-Susan, lol! I hope I can finish this today, since my boss not in the office!

message 113: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, yes, Ren. While I like Susan, I'm much more inclined toward a Harry-Murphy pairing.

message 114: by Lauren (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lauren (laurenjberman) Agree. It is Murphy- Harry for me as well although I do like Susan's character. She reacts very well to the demons inHarry's life, lol!

message 115: by ShoSho , Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Is there going to be a pairing? I thought it would just go like this without him being an actual couple relationship! and I thought there won't be any romance.

message 116: by Lina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lina | 5563 comments *gasps* no romance??! But... how can that be??

message 117: by Lauren (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lauren (laurenjberman) Not sure that there is a pairing but one can still have hopes and expectations, can't one...

I did really like the part with the broom.

message 121: by Lauren (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lauren (laurenjberman) I'm terrified of (view spoiler) so those scenes really gave me the creepy crawlies.

Liked the part with the broom too.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Jim Butcher announced today that he has finished writing Peace talks. Anyone interested in rereading these before the new book comes out in a few months(I assume)?

Gisela, do you want to comment here or a new thread?

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments Here is fine.

lorii (Loriidae) This is on my TBR, it would depend on the proposed time frame between books.

I know! At first I thought we read it in 2016 because of that last message and then I saw the previous messages from 2013.

I think we are going to wing it and I don't think we can finish them all before book #16 comes out in a few months.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments When do you want to start?

Elishia | 2620 comments I've just seen this ive been meaning to pick these back up I'm still early on in the series

message 135: by ShoSho , Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I got the paperback here in bed with me but I'm on my phone. I have read the acknowledgment page only. Heehee

message 136: by Gisela, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments I got the audio this time. I’m listening while I crochet a blanket. I’m still on ch.1.

Elishia | 2620 comments I'm on hold for the audio so will switch to that when it comes in.

message 138: by Gisela, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments So far I like the voice for Harry.

message 139: by ShoSho , Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I love Spike!

I listened the first time around, I'm going to try and see if I can manage reading. If not I'll switch back to audio.

message 140: by Dani (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dani (wave3girl) | 3 comments I listening to this 2 years ago. I may have to reread it. You know the voice actor was the actor of Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Elishia | 2620 comments I'm sure 1 of you recommended the audio to me as I never listened to them back then. My books here now so I'll be catching up today as I've got loads of crocheting to do anyway.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments OMG the amount of foreshadowing! It's like JB knew exactly where he was taking the series!!
I'm on chapter 7.

lorii (Loriidae) ShoSho wrote: "OMG the amount of foreshadowing! It's like JB knew exactly where he was taking the series!!

I am still debating whether to start this series as I am knee deep in Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series and I am scared they might be too similar.

Anyway, I read on another group that Dreseden planned a 21, I think book series when he was in college and his professor told him it was too ambitious.

Elishia | 2620 comments Think I only got to 5 or 6 in the series so I won't notice anything till later I'm guessing. Think I fell asleep during chapter 3 or 5 but glad I decided to re read because I wouldn't of remembered half of this stuff.
I haven't read that series so so not sure how similar they are.

Elishia | 2620 comments Just finished really enjoyed it wasn't sure if I'd still like it because it had been so long and it's not my usual genre of book.

message 146: by ShoSho , Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I'm switching between audio and paperback so I can finish it faster but these days I don't much time for books:( RL sucks!
I was listening this morning and I have 3 hours left on the audio.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments JM is very breathy in this one. He gets better in future books.

message 148: by Gisela, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments He is breathy, but I think he did it on purpose to reflect how tired Harry is. I love that I never feel like I’m being read to, JM is HD and HD is telling me what happened.

Elishia | 2620 comments I thought he was doing it on purpose as well
