I thought Harry had kind of a film noir dectective vibe. Almost expected him to say "dames". I thought it was kinda cool.

hahaha I know exactly what you mean. I'm hoping the quality will get better as they go on.
I'm not sure what I was expecting but I didn't know it was about magic or that he was a wizard. I thought it I would find it hard to get in to as I don't usually read books like this.

Lol! I also had a problem with James Marsters heavy breathing. He sounded like he was sighing all the time.

Me too!
I'm up to Chapter 18. Finally I have time for reading after the busy weeks :(So far, I really like it. I like Harry, and even just a hint, I'm more into Harry-Murphy, rather than Harry-Susan, lol! I hope I can finish this today, since my boss not in the office!
Agree. It is Murphy- Harry for me as well although I do like Susan's character. She reacts very well to the demons inHarry's life, lol!
Is there going to be a pairing? I thought it would just go like this without him being an actual couple relationship! and I thought there won't be any romance.
What did you think of the final confrontation? I must admit(view spoiler)I did really like the part with the broom.
I'm terrified of (view spoiler) so those scenes really gave me the creepy crawlies. Liked the part with the broom too.
Jim Butcher announced today that he has finished writing Peace talks. Anyone interested in rereading these before the new book comes out in a few months(I assume)? Gisela, do you want to comment here or a new thread?
Gisela wrote: "Wow! We read this in 2013!! Can’t believe it’s been that long!"I know! At first I thought we read it in 2016 because of that last message and then I saw the previous messages from 2013.
Loriidae wrote: "This is on my TBR, it would depend on the proposed time frame between books."I think we are going to wing it and I don't think we can finish them all before book #16 comes out in a few months.
I got the paperback here in bed with me but I'm on my phone. I have read the acknowledgment page only. Heehee
I love Spike! I listened the first time around, I'm going to try and see if I can manage reading. If not I'll switch back to audio.
I listening to this 2 years ago. I may have to reread it. You know the voice actor was the actor of Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
I'm sure 1 of you recommended the audio to me as I never listened to them back then. My books here now so I'll be catching up today as I've got loads of crocheting to do anyway.
OMG the amount of foreshadowing! It's like JB knew exactly where he was taking the series!!I'm on chapter 7.

I am still debating whether to start this series as I am knee deep in Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series and I am scared they might be too similar.
Anyway, I read on another group that Dreseden planned a 21, I think book series when he was in college and his professor told him it was too ambitious.
Think I only got to 5 or 6 in the series so I won't notice anything till later I'm guessing. Think I fell asleep during chapter 3 or 5 but glad I decided to re read because I wouldn't of remembered half of this stuff.I haven't read that series so so not sure how similar they are.
Just finished really enjoyed it wasn't sure if I'd still like it because it had been so long and it's not my usual genre of book.
I'm switching between audio and paperback so I can finish it faster but these days I don't much time for books:( RL sucks!I was listening this morning and I have 3 hours left on the audio.
He is breathy, but I think he did it on purpose to reflect how tired Harry is. I love that I never feel like I’m being read to, JM is HD and HD is telling me what happened.
