W.J. Lennox | 100 comments Well that sucks! Went to download it, until I discovered the Kindle version was £6.99. And I refuse to pay that much on principle no matter how good it is. Will just have to wait until the price is lowered :(

I'm about halfway through now. I haven't been able to do fantasy that much lately but this feels a bit roman historical, which I love, and definitely dystopian, and even Hunger Games ish. So really enjoying it even though it has some pretty dark themes in it.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I'm only about 50 pages in and so far it's really slow and just kind of meh....Hoping it picks up soon!

Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) I felt that way at first too, Rose, but it does pick up. I'm a little more than half way and loving it. I would have been done now, but life keeps getting in the way. :(

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments Good to know @Donna!

Sarah (geekymom13) There were a few yawn worthy moments, but overall it made me feel so many different emotions that I thought it was an excellent read. :)

Rieko | 4 comments I just loved the world, all the supernatural creatures and the trials (omg the trials...)
But this book left me with so many questions.

Kimberly Vanderbloom (kvanderbloom) | 80 comments I agree with you Rieko. I will be interested to see how this series pans out. I really enjoyed it and I'm along for the ride.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments 54 pages in.
Still taking time to get used to the setting. I still need to become immersed in the story. Tons of potential though.

I'm not quite sure when this grabbed me, but it did! I'm about 55% in and really liking this. I really like Helene!

Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) WOW...loved it!!!!! What a fabulous book!! Sabaa Tahir is an amazing writer, I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments 100 pages in.
Still inching my way into it. Lots of promise.

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments The audio is amazing. And the world is so hard, so cruel!

And @Sarah you are hilarious -

I'm about halfway but I need to go back and re-read some parts because I fell asleep last night listening - despite the fact that I was up until around 5am because I couldn't stop! lol!

Jen, who narrates the audio?

I've had such small windows of reading this week, but managed to get a bit read last night before my Nook slammed down on my nose when I dozed off. ;)

It just gets better and better. Love Izzi now too!

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 787 comments I started the audio but haven't been able to continue, can't wait to start back up!

kynndra-jo (charlietanghoe) Finished this one a few minutes ago. Absolutely AMAZING.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Page 277.
I still like it a lot, although Helene is annoying me.
Wonder how this book is going to end.

Karen’s Library | 11320 comments Mod
Holy schnikes! 80%. (view spoiler)

Rieko | 4 comments I'm not sure how to feel about Helene. She seems nice but I really don't know where she stands now at the and of the book.
I especially get confused because while Elias seems to be really attracted to Laia, he also seems to be interested in Helene. It generally confuses me, because Laia also has someone else she likes. It's like we are put in a storm of emotions and attraction XD but I still really enjoyed all of it.

Narrators are Fiona Hardingham and Steve West - both are stellar. I didn't realise this but they also narrated The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater.

I finished this earlier today and I think it's a 4.5 rounded up to 5-star book. I loved the characters - especially Elias! I also loved the plot twists that kept happening. I mean, you knew some of them couldn't possibly be the way things would turn out but how in the world were they going to fix it? That's what I enjoyed.
The romance was perfect for this type of story. Just a hint, hardly any at all.
I think that it compares with The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1) by Marie Rutkoski in terms of tone and The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1) by Mary E. Pearson in the writing. But I actually think it's better than both.

I listened to The Scorpio Races and liked the narration so I'm sure I'd like this audio, then!!

The plot twists were really good. We were really left hanging quite a few times at the emd of a chapter. I normally don't like fantasy but really loved this one. Maybe my love of fantasy is finally coming back?! ;)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Finished two days ago.
I'll post details once I get home from vacation, but I loved it.
One of my favourite reads of 2015.
Please read it guys. Seriously.

Just picked this one up to read next. Stopped in here to check and see if it was worth it, since it looks pretty lengthy. I'm sold, Daniel. Starting it in 3... 2... 1...

message 41: by Kim (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kim Anderson (kimmatski) I'm 300 pages in.

(view spoiler)

It took me a little bit to get into it. There's a lot of terminology and geography at the beginning when you are being introduced to the world that is sort of confusing. But it's been entertaining. Hope t have it finished tonight or tomorrow!

Kim Anderson (kimmatski) OK. I finished. I really enjoyed it. Some places dragged on a little, but, in the end, I wasn't disappointed. I have so many questions!!!
