I seem to be going through a reading slump. I don't know if it is dull books, spring fever (I have been planting), or medication. My question is can medication cause a reading slump?

I think it might depend on the medication? Like, sometimes I've heard of people taking meds and becoming uniterested in certain things because it made them lethargic and such. So it could be? I was in a slump for a bit as well (not medically related). I think it's just a way your mind just says "Stop! I need a break! Too much awesome!"
Thank you Lupe. Too much Awesome, I like that.
I too am in a reading slump. A bit of depression, over-worked and some medication, I miss reading...
Sure! When I'm sick I don't focus as much on reading. Anything that tires the mind can definitely do it. Hope you're better soon (in all ways, always)
I've been in a reading slump for all of 2015 so far. I've been getting reading done, but not that much. I've only read 10 books so far this year and last year I read 225!!! I think I might have a bit of reading burn-out...I'm taking it in stride.
Sometimes meds can effect your moods, and if you are feeling tired or depressed that can assuredly affect whether you are enjoying things you do. I would suggest you call and discuss with your dr
Appreciate the responses. I hope everyone gets a reading high instead of the reading blues.

I can relate to the reading slump, I chopped my leg with an axe about a month ago and couldn't go to work, or walk etc so I thought "woohoo, time for a reading binge" but I've hardly been able to get halfway through a book... I start work again Monday so now there wont be time for much reading. Ah well, I'll get back into it eventually.
Yeah, I know how you feel. I have fibromyalgia and am in constant pain. Can't concentrate to read. Then I have to work and too sore and tired to read when I get home !! So frustrating!! I have a stack of books by my chair waiting for me!
I go through many reading slumps. Sometimes I can read all the time, and then not be able to read at all. Mine is due to stress/poor concentration.
Me too you guys, stress, anxiety, and poor concentration. Esp on a rainy when I'm from work..I won't read!!Very frustrating.
I have fibromyalgia, like Lee, and my pain levels affect how much I'm able to read, as well. On top of my pain levels, the meds I'm on actually have "trouble concentrating" listed as a side affect. 2015 has been a very slow reading year for me :'(

Mine is horrible, yes it affects my life, parttime work and my reading. My books are my relief.I can just look at a stack on my floor unread and feel a better. Knowing an adventure waits for me when I am ready. No rush. How sweet..
My reading slump is still going strong. I've only read about 12 books so far this year. It's terrible. But I keep buying book (of course) to help me feel better.
I agree, on the days I have tendonitis or back pain all I can do is mindlessly watch TV. I've been pushing myself to read this week.
I keep buying books, too, Yovanka. Ordering them online and waiting until I recieve them gives me something to look forward too [I don't have a local bookstore, and I don't feel up to going out most days anyway]. Maybe that's weird, but there's only a few things that get me excited anymore, except books :)I find myself watching a lot more TV than I used to as well, Karen. I've actually taken up reading manga (aka Japanese comic books, but translated versions). They take less concentration than traditional novels, but it's still enough that I don't quite feel like my brain is rotting from all that television I watch! :-P
I know how you feel you guys..fibromyalgia in the summer is horrible!! Makes me sluggish. Just want to rush home into the AC and sleep. My poor books in stacks call out to me!! I too was watching a lot of TV Michelle E.!! Finally 2 week ago moved computer back into quiet den with my books. Hard conversion! Hoping to get back to reading all my pretties soon!!
